Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a 1977 Chrysler New Yorker Brougham survivor. This was Chrysler's top of the line offering in '77 as the Imperial had just been discontinued. Often referred to as the New Yorker "Imperial", the Brougham had every option the mighty Imperial did. This car is a rare and special find. Owned for many years by the original owner, it was recently passed on to a relative after the owner's passing. The second owner sold the car to me. It was obviously garaged nearly its entire life as the paint is still very nice, the dash is uncracked and the vinyl top(while showing some wear) is still original and servicable. The car is absolutely rust free which is in itself a rarity on these old Mopars. The trunk floor and padding look as if the car just rolled off the assembly line in 1977! The floors and fenders, frame-everything are perfect. This wonderful New Yorker is also equipped with a couple rare options- a power sunroof and the mighty 440 V8. It is also optioned with the padded and button tufted Corinthian leather-plush doesn't begin to describe this seating. This car is also the only car to my knowledge that is factory equipped with built in pillows on the inside C-pilar! The seats, windows, locks, steering and brakes are of course powered. The steering also tilts and telescopes. Cruise control and a factory 8-track am/fm stereo are also onboard. Another neat thing about this Brougham(the highest trim level available) is that it is a pillarless 4-door. Drop all the windows and open the large sunroof and you have a fantastic driving experience. The '77 New Yorker also features very cool hidden headlights that flip up at the touch of the switch. Road presence? This automobile has it in spades. The condition of this car, while amazing for its age, isn't quite perfect. There is a split seam on the upper rear seatback and the AC is currently not operating as one hose has a split in it. The car was also originally equipped with the lean burn system. It has been converted to the Mopar factory electronic ignition. All of the lean burn parts(computor, distributor, etc) are included. The Chrysler starts right up and cruises nicely down the road. It doesn't overheat or stall and all the gauges and lights function as they should. All windows, headlights and the impressive sunroof work as intended. It could probably stand a bit more fiddling with the remaining Lean Burn vacum lines to make it run perfect. The 440 V8 has plenty of power and pulls strongly. It has a power antenna and trunk release-both work fine. The AM/FM works well, however, I haven't been able to get the 8 track to play. Chrome and trim are nice, glass(original Mopar!) is all good. The car has tons of original documentation, the owner's manuals, the sunroof manual and a clear title. The car was originally sold in Southern California and has never left the area. It still proudly wears its original blue plates and the license plate frames from the selling dealer way back in 1977! It would probably need to have the cat convertor reinstalled to be smogged. It was just removed as the car runs much stronger without it. It is included. It has a current Californai smog cert. All in all, this is a great example of a grand American luxo cruiser. There are not many around in this condition. Drive it while you take it to the next level. Very presentable driver as it sits and has garnered nothing but positive comments from those that see and ride in it. Sold as is, of course. Good luck bidding! On Oct-07-11 at 18:15:06 PDT, seller added the following information: I've had a few requests for additional pictures. These have been added. Also, to answer a few more questions: The tires are all in good condition, there are some touched up chips in the paint, all windows and sunroof work well.
