1954 BMW R-Series

Up for bid is a Numbers Matching 1954 BMW R51/3. Blending the pre-war style with the post war engine, this is the last year for the R51/3 and the only year with full width hubs for better braking. This Bike pulls strong in every gear and rides nice. The following work has been done: The engine was rebuilt with new slingers, main bearings, and cam bearings. The cylinders were bored and new Kolbenschmidt pistons, rings and pins were installed. Also, all new gaskets, seals, .etc. and the Heads were reworked professionally. The frame, fenders, gas tank and all other steel parts were sandblasted and professionally painted and hand pinstriped. The gas tank was sealed with POR-15. The original Weinmann shouldered aluminum rims were professionally polished and re-laced with new stainless steel spokes. New Metzeler 350X19 Block C tires were installed with new German Tubes and rim straps. A new exhaust system was installed along with many other new parts (see list below). The steering head bearings were replaced with new tapered roller bearings. Wheel bearings were replaced or repacked as required. The final drive spline was replaced with a new unit.
