Vehicle Detail
1989 Acura Legend L 4-Door - V6 Auto - 73K Original Miles - Metallic Taupe Exterior and Ivory Leather Interior I am listing my wife's grandmother's car for her as she has decided she no longer wants to drive. This Acura Legend is a nice one owner, low mileage car which was used primarily for grocery runs and trips around the neighborhood. It has spent most of its life in a covered carport, so the original paint looks pretty decent, though it could use a good buffing. The car looks to be about half its age and runs and drives very well. More than anything, it needs to be driven. I have driven it a little over 100 miles on a fresh tank of premium gas, and wouldn't hesitate to take it on a long trip. Although it has plenty of smooth power on tap, the car still does pretty well on gas, and it would make an excellent commuter car, first car, college car, etc. If you know what you are looking for, then you probably know what you are looking at, so I will get right to it. Highlights: One owner car purchased new by my wife's grandparents in Tampa from Ferman Acura with 4 miles on it.Started regularly and driven occasionally around Wesley Chapel, FL by my wife's grandmother.Original window sticker and purchase documents included. Numerous luxury options are standard on this model.Engine purrs quietly, no pinging, rattling, or knocking - plenty of power on tap for a car of its era.Transmission shifts smoothly and quietly and no warning indicators appear on the dash lights. Car appears to be getting pretty good gas mileage around town, +/- 20 MPG. Sticker says EPA 18-22 mpg but I think you could do better than that if you took it easy. Extensive service history and documentation. All power windows, sunroof, door locks, radio trunk latch, dials, buttons, knobs, and other electronic controls appear to function properly with no issues. I don't know about the tape deck because I don't have any tapes handy. You can assume it doesn't work (and buy a CD or MP3 player with some of the money you saved by buying this car). Air conditioning blows strong and cold. Two sets of original keys. Exterior paint in good condition with a few minor imperfections, but no rust that I can see. Undercarriage looks pretty clean as well. Interior and leather upholstery are in very good condition but with some fading, separating and bubbling which should be expected of a car this age. In general a very clean, economical, highly-optioned, well-running car. Imperfections: The radio antenna automatically extends and collapses into the trunk when the radio is turned on and off. It works intermittently and sometimes needs help going up and down. A little grease (and use) would probably solve the issue. The ride is a little taut and firm, more like a little sports car than a small luxury car. It handles great, but the suspension feels a little stiff and the ride would probably benefit from an upgrade to more modern shocks. The tires don't have a lot of miles on them and therefore have a good amount of tread, but they are probably a few years old. Plan on replacing them in the next several thousand miles. One of them may have a very slow leak, though I have not really experienced a problem with it in the couple of weeks I have been driving the car. Love bug spots are visible on the paint, particularly on the hood and front fascia. Not sure if these will buff out or not. Assume they won't.Sun spots and discolorations in the leather upholstery and carpeting are seen in a handful of places. See photos. The vinyl trim is bubbling and pulling away from the body in one or two places, and could probably be re-glued inexpensively by a reputable upholstery shop. Upholstery in good shape otherwise.Missing driver floor mat; generic replacement in its place.Missing one of the plastic covers on the driver side power seat controls; does not affect the proper functioning of the seat. Missing a small piece of button which controls the driver side window, but the button and window both work fine nonetheless. Hydraulic hood supports are worn out, so you have to either replace these or prop the hood open. There is some spider web crackling in the left side of the rear bumper where someone bumped the car from behind. Hardly noticeable but see pictures. The bumper trim probably needs about a centimeter or half centimeter adjustment near the left wheel well as a result. There is a small crack in the left tail light lens area, probably from when she was bumped. There are a half dozen fairly noticeable door dings, primarily on the driver side. These could be touched up or ignored.General wear and tear which I could not list here should be expected from a twenty year old car. General information about the Acura Legend series: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acura_Legend Some web reviews for the first Acura Legend series: http://www.carsurvey.org/reviews/acura/legend/1989/single-page/ I had one of these Legends ten years ago and drove it back and forth to Texas regularly. I have fond memories of its performance and reliability before I sold it to my brother with a lot of miles on it. These cars are good for a couple hundred, if not a few hundred thousand miles with proper care and maintenance (one reviewer boasts over 400K miles on his Legend). This car is a good choice if you are looking for something which may last another ten years with proper care. If you are local and would like to see the vehicle in person, it can be viewed upon appointment (please give 48 hours advance notice) in South Tampa or Riverside Heights. Terms of Sale I am not a dealer, but a private individual listing this car for a family member. You will receive an open title and bill of sale with the car upon receipt of payment. Car is listed for sale locally and the auction may end early.I have done my best to describe the car accurately and to point out its known faults but assume there are others typical of a car this age and with this mileage. It is a used vehicle with no warranty expressed or implied. Car is listed as it is, where it is, in Tampa, Florida, area code 33609. You are responsible for shipping or driving the car home; I will do my best to cooperate with your shipper. You aren't bidding for the right to a test drive. You are bidding to purchase the car. A $250 non-refundable deposit is due via PayPal from winning bidder within 24 hours of the end of auction. If you bid and for any reason do not consummate the purchase of the car, you agree to forfeit your deposit to cover the time and expense to re-list the car. Don't bid if you do not have the cash readily available to complete the purchase. We will not take payments for the car. If you pay with a personal check, you will receive a bill of sale and we will hold both the car and the title until your check clears. You must retrieve the car from us within 7 days of the end of the auction. If you need it held longer than that, please be prepared to pay for storage as we don't have room for it at our house. There are not many vehicles comparable to this one for sale right now, in this condition and with these miles, but I have set a reasonable reserve for the car based on sales and prices of similar Acura and Lexus models from this era. Here's a similar low mileage, newer Acura Vigor which sold on Ebay a little while ago: http://tinyurl.com/3f4ojfn If you want the car, please bid your highest and best bid and be prepared to come get it. If you have questions I have not covered here, please e-mail me via Ebay's message feature. Thanks and good luck! Have not identified anything else not working but if I do I will post it here.
