Vehicle Detail
here we have an original, unmolested honcho that hasn't been hacked up or or stuffed full of bondo & painted over. i've owned 6 of these trucks & this 1 is the cleanest i've ever seen. i bought it 6 yrs. ago from a fella in wash. with hopes of a restore but the economy is telling me otherwise. don't get me wrong, i don't have to sell it, it's been paid for & isn't eating anything, however i would like to see someone have it that has enough time & of course, the cash to take her back to her former glory. it has been in a storage building up until 2 weeks ago when i decided to sell it. the body on the truck is incredible. it had 3 small rust holes in the driver's floor but the po covered it with rust convertor & then laid down fiberglass cloth with resin. he did a great job & no rust has came back but i was going to put in a piece from my parts truck just to make it completely rust free. he also installed new carpet in the factory color & had custom seat covers & door panels made with a southwestern print that really goes well with the honcho theme. he installed a 2 in. lift & added 33 goodyear radials that have 3/4 tread remaining. the left bedside has 3 golf ball size dings near the top, the stripes are a little faded, & it does have some rock chips & scratches that have some surface rust but nothing rotten. other than those few things, the truck looks awesome & several people have even stopped by the house here to look at it, take a few pictures, & shoot the bull about it. the truck has never been wrecked & still wears all the original paint paint except for the tailgate. the main things that amaze me about the truck are, all the gauges work including the fuel gauge & it only has 102,000 miles on it. anyone that knows about these trucks knows how hard it is to find 1 with working gauges, especially the fuel gauge. the engine has good oil pressure & runs good, however, it ran better before i let it sit 6 yrs.with gas in the carb. i drained the tank & put in a few gallons of premium gas & a can of seafoam & ran a second can down the carb. while it was running. it seemed to help & it runs a little better each time i drive it around the block but it still isn't back to where it was. it may ultimately need a rebuild but runs good enough to drive as is. the tranny shifts good & firm thru all gears but does leak a little like all these trucks do. it lost 2 qts. sitting for 6 yrs. so i guess that isn't that bad. the 4 wd works great in all the gears. it does stop ok but when compared to my new truck, the pedal is a little low. it may be as simple as adjusting the rear shoes up or even replacing the shoes which is fairly cheap. in a nutshell, to have a $10,000 truck, u'll need paint, a tranny reseal, & maybe a carb. rebuild, or u can just keep check on the tranny fluid & drive it & enjoy it as is. they don't make em' anymore & this is an exceptional specimen of the days when trucks were trucks, not a car chassis with truck bodies on them.
