This auction is for 'Baby' our restored 1967 beetle. We have had this car for a few years and we bought it for my girlfriend to use as a fun car to drive around in and although we have had a lot of fun with it, we just don't use it as much as we used to and are looking to purchase a 4X4 truck to do some outer beach camping with our new camper. This car is probably about as nice of a stock driver that you will find although it isn't a 100 point concours show car. However, we do drive it down to the local cruise night where it always attracts a lot of attention and once entered it into a car show that we were spectators at just for kicks and it ended up taking second place, eventhough it wasn't even prepped or cleaned! The engine is a rebuilt 1600CC that runs great and is super reliable, never leaving us stranded or stuck anywhere. We take it on regular trips out to Montauk and everywhere else without an ounce of worry and have 100% confidence in driving it anywhere. I believe the color is the highly desireable L87 pearl white and the interior is NEW with a classic two toned Pea Green and off white and really looks great compared to the typical black interior. The carpets are also in good condition and there is an aftermarket center console that is great for holding drinks, cell phones, junk etc. The radio is an AM unit but does not work and may not be connected but we just didn't have the heart to replace it with a modern radio. The outside is in above average condition as shown with very few blemishes and chips although the bumpers do have some rust on them. The tires are in good condition and the wheels were custom two toned to match. The front trunk is also very nice with the cardboard lining, jack, tool kit and spare tire included. This one also has the optional rear pop out windows which are an absolute godsend on warm days. Overall, this car is a beautiful driver that could probably be a show car with a little effort if desired by the new owners and please note that it was not cleaned for these photos and does have some sand in the trunk from the beach chairs we keep in it. We had it professionally detailed at the beginning of the summer and it would look nicer than in the pictures with a wash, wax and vacuum but we wanted to show it 'as is'. Somebody put a ton of money into restoring this original non rusty car and was listed in Hemmings Motor News and we gladly paid a bucket full of money when we bought it. I have been driving Volkswagens for over 25 years and this is by far the nicest one I ever owned with the exception of a frame off restoration show car I once owned. As most VW enthusiasts know, the 1967 Beetle like this one is considered one of the best years ever since it is a special one year only model and the last year of the 'old classic style' that VW changed in 1968 and later bugs. We happen to think very highly of this car and would be more than happy to show the car ro any serious bidders who are encouraged to inspect it in person. SInce the car is insured under collectible car insurance, we cannot offer any test piloting, but can personally take you for a ride to show you just how nicely it drives. You are also welcome and encouraged to bring your mechanic to check it out as well or hire an automobile inspection company to give you a full report if you cannot make the trip to see it. Just contact me so we can schedule an appointment for them to come. The car has recently passed the New York State inspection and is ready to go. Can you drive this home? I would say 'absolutely' since it has been so reliable for us, but if you are planning to go across the country or out of state, it is at your own risk. A $300 deposit is required immediately at the end of the auction, so please be prepared to send this and the balance is due within 7 days of the end of auction which is when the car is to be picked up by. If you need this shipped, the arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer and please use my zip code of 11776 for the pick up location when you are getting your estimate. I have had luck in the past doing a google search for Auto Transport which should provide companies that can offer free online quotes. I will do my best to accommodate your shippers schedule. If you have any questions, please feel fre to contact me and I will answer them as quickly as possible. To amswer some of the questions I have gotten: The noticable blemishes are a stick door handle, a little rust on the bumpers, a slight crease on the drivers side rear fender and yes, we did not go crazy cleaning it for the pictures and it needs to be vacuumed and a detail would make it look great. Basically a great car that is super nice and reliable that you can get in and drive without putting work into.
