Vehicle Detail
I got this car from a friend as a repair project, but I don't have the garage / driveway space for it, and the wife says it HAS TO GO. It's a shame because it's a great repair project car. Was run into on the right-front fender, but after removed the fender metal and wheel well splash guard, there's one scrape visible, but the rest looks great. The door needs to be repaired, but all in all, it's a pretty solid car. Power locks, windows and mirrors. Has GREAT aftermarket speakers and is wired for a subwoofer in the trunk. I've driven it around and let it idle in the driveway for an hour. Doesn't overheat, drives well, stops well, handles well. I'm not a mechanic, but it seems like a good car. I drove it to a local repair shop for an inspection, and here's what they came up with: Inspection recommendations: could use a new battery (I think they were trying to get me to buy one - I looked at it myself when I got home and realizes the battery was halfway dry. Refilled it and it seems OK, but not new) needs a new A/C compressor (my friend owns an auto repair shop in Chicago and states this is a $50 junkyard part, or $75 new) could use a new brake master cylinder (when you're at a stop for a long time, you can feel the pedal go soft a little - I made an emergency stop without issue) previous owner installed a new exhaust system that eliminated the catalytic converter and installed a performance muffler. (my friend who owns the repair shop in Chicago says an exhaust with catalytic converter and normal muffler is $150, and I'd be able to resell the performance muffler) That was all the shop found. The door opens and closes (and latches), so it can be driven and used, but should probably be replaced. There are some rust spots and a broken radio antenna that need to be fixed. I'd switch out the blue turn signals, aftermarket mirrors and euro taillights, one of each are broken, as seen in the pictures. Car is sold as-is, of course, and you're welcome/encourages to check it out yourself / have someone come look at it for you. clear title in hand, no liens on the title - it's good to go.
