Vehicle Detail

Kelly Blue Book Value over $3000 in Fair Condition!Still gets a solid 24 MPG in daily driving, just like when new! Engine runs strong and cleanly. Rare 2-tone Green color. 4-wheel ABS Disc Brakes. Driver/Passenger Airbags. Power Sunroof. Air Conditioning. Power mirrors. Power tilt steering wheel. Central door locking. Power driver and passenger seats with memory. Power windows. AM/FM/Cassette/6-disc CD changer with power antenna. XM satellite radio. All power options work as they should. Has full-size Michelin spare on alloy rim, original Mercedes toolkit/jack. Original Mercedes First-aid kit still there (if you want it!). Original M-B Owners Manual included! This is an overall very-nice-condition E320 sedan, and has been my daily driving vehicle for the past year without much trouble, and has been well maintained, and always starts and runs without difficulty. The interior leather is in GREAT shape (for being 17+ years old), and there is minimal wear on the driver's seat only, and no tears in the leather anywhere. A/C blows nice and cold. This is still a quiet, comfortable, luxury ride for 5 adults, just like the day it rolled off the assembly line. I am upgrading to a newer AWD vehicle since I have a lot of commuting miles with my new job, so I need to sell my old M-B to a new home that will take good care of her. There is no undercarriage rust, which is very unusual in a vehicle of this vintage. The original paint is still in great condition with little weathering. The body is solid. Wonderful German manufacturing and materials! Has current PA inspection through 10/2011. Should not have any difficulty passing inspection (will probably need new rear brake pads and rear tires is all). Items replaced/fixed/added over the past year (over $2000 in repairs): -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Full Engine Wiring Harness (replaced with a better quality used harness off another E320)Engine Management Computer Module replacedNew Iridium Spark PlugsNew Mass Air Flow sensorRadiator (replaced with a new unit)ALL cooling system hoses replacedNew Michelin all-weather Front TiresParking brake shoes replacedSerpentine belt replacedRear Disc Brake Rotors replacedFront Brake Pads and wear-sensors replacedXM Satellite Radio installed with external antenna (feeds through FM radio)New 6-disc Alpine CD changer (in the trunk) which integrates with original factory radio controlsNewer Bosch BatteryNew Power Antenna unitRear shocks replacedNew Cabin Air Filters (this is not an easy job to do on this car model but I just did it the other week) Known problems/issues that still exist (because I believe in truth-in-advertising):--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Transmission does have some mild slipping during 2nd-3rd and 3rd-Drive upshifts during mild acceleration, but appears to be a stable process over the past year and hasn't been worsening over time. Obviously, as with all transmissions, it will ultimately need an overhaul some day if it begins to worsen (next year maybe). Actually, when you accelerate HARD and rev the engine up higher, it has no trouble shifting; the slip only happens with more sedate acceleration. Once you're into top gear and cruising on the highway, she runs like there's no tomorrow and there are no slippage problems whatsoever. These transmissions are really built like a tank, and as my mechanic has said, "unless the transmission is truly DEAD, it's best to just keep driving it until it does fail completely, since it's about a $3000 job to overhaul." Does not appear to leak any appreciable amount of ATF and the color of the fluid stays a nice clear red. I've added Lucas Transmission Fix to the trans and that appears to help the shifting quite a bit. Does NOT burn any oil, but does have a minor, predictable oil leak from the cylinder head gasket (about 1 qt of oil every 1-2 tanks of gas, depending on outdoor temperature). My mechanic did leak testing to pin down where it was coming from and stated that it appears to be a stable process, and just requires keeping an eye on the oil level, unless you want to get into pulling the head and replacing the gasket. This is a common problem with this year/model. The oil color stays a nice clear amber. A few minor cracks in the lacquer on the wood of the center-console (from temperature changes over the years). This does not significantly detract from its looks. Headlight washer/wipers not working anymore, but I don't know who really cares about those anyway. Could even be a simple wiring or fuse issue. I've never checked into it. The headlights and integral fog lights all work fine and the headlight lenses are the more expensive glass variety, not the plastic ones that yellow with time. Couple little flea-bite nicks in the original windshield, but no spidering or cracks. Didn't give any problems with passing inspection last year, so should be fine. Outdoor temperature gauge non-functional. The LCD lights up, but does not display numbers. Probably just needs a new outside sensor (sits behind the front license plate). The "Check Engine" light has always been lit for the past year, but the car runs absolutely fine. As I said, the car runs beautifully and gets great gas mileage even though the light is on. I got a chance to run the ECU fault codes that are being reported by the computer and they are the following:5 = EGR faulty (usually just needs cleaning but replacement is fairly inexpensive if truly needed)17 = Data exchange malfunction between individual control modules (?)23 = Intake manifold pressure with engine running too high or too low26 = Upshift delay faulty (I'm sure related to the existing transmission issues) That's it for all the codes, doesn't sound like anything too much. Cruise control works properly most of the time. Occasionally, when you start the car (especially when cold out), the cruise control won't engage, but if you just turn off the ignition and restart the car, it invariably works again. Again, the computers on these older cars tend to be somewhat touchy/quirky, and want all the signals to be coming in just right all the time. I've checked the wiring harness and does not appear to have anything to do with this. Original factory Nokia corded analog cellphone is missing but all the wiring and electronics for it are still there in a flip-down center console. But, who uses a corded cellphone anymore? The headliner material in the back of the cabin has become unglued from its backing board and so hangs down a bit from the ceiling. The cloth material itself is completely intact and just needs to be reaffixed to the backing board with new adhesive. I bought the adhesive (you can have the can), but just never got around to doing the job. This past winter was not kind to us, and one day when extricating my vehicle from a snow-piled parking spot in 0-degree weather, the front and rear bumper covers scraped against the snow gently. This wouldn't normally be a big deal, but the 0-degree temperature made the plastic of the bumper covers brittle and the snow in parking spot had turned to ice, and so a short section of the Right Front bumper cover broke off as a result (I still have the pieces in a bag if you want to try and piece them back together and mend it). I also got a crack in the Left Rear bumper cover (around the exhaust pipe). Both of these are pure cosmetic issues and don't affect function or crash-protection at all, since the bumpers themselves aren't affected. I have looked on-line, and found a number of replacement bumper covers at junk yards available in the proper color for $300-400 delivered. I just never had the time to pursue it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That's about it, please look at all the pictures. I tried my best to show everything. This is a great deal for anyone who likes the older Benz's. There is no reserve pricing. This car goes to whoever bids the highest price. You can schedule with me to come by for a test-drive if you'd like before bidding. If you have any questions or need me to take pictures of anything else and email them to you, just contact me through my ebay listing.
