1983 DT500 Trans Am. Origional Pace Car. NO RESERVE. Please make your bid. Here is the complete description. Two owner car, but I am technically the 3rd owner. I have owned it for 3 years but I never titled it or drove it other than up on trailer and off. This car was sitting in storage for about 18 years until 3 months ago. The motor was not running quite right. The motor was removed, and a blown head gasket was found. Everything was inpsected, corrected, cleaned, and reinstalled. Many new parts were replaced in the process, everything was cleaned and painted before being reinstalled. The work was being done in my shop. It is not a rotisery restoration or anything like that - just a quality clean up. The car is very clean and origional. I will post more high resolustion pictures of the interior, wheel wells, ect. This is a Pace Car with Recaro seats option, the seats are terrible however, they will all need to be recovered. It has not been in any accidents or rusted. I did find that the driver's door was keyed and repainted in the mid 80s. It is a very nice clean straight original rust free pace car that has had a light restoration started. The car still needs a few things to be finished. I will try to hit everything. 5.0L Crossfire fuel injection....NEW installed in last 90 days: Cam & lifters, timing chain & gears, head gaskets, intake & valve cover gaskets, water pump, upper/lower radiator hoses, heater hoses, Alternator & belt, P/S pump & belt, A/C belt, Spark plugs & wires, Distributer Cap/Rotor, Air filters, PCV valves,exhaust manifold gaskets, (has not been started since installed). Complete lower end and heads were rebuild at 85k miles according to the previous owner. Valve Covers, Oil Pan, all frontend accessory brackets, engine, intake, air-cleaner, and entire engine compartment was cleaned and painted (engine bay with factory color code PPG, rest all epoxy coated and painted/baked). All parts purchased are the premium if there was a choice. I have a stack of reciepts a inch tall.Fuel supply and return need to be connected, pcv valve plumed, air/smog pump pluged, have origional dual rear muffler and Y but no Cat. The pics you see are as everything looks. There is no armor all or shine/protectant applied. Over-Drive Transmission... Shifts right and on time. Currently the trans crossmeber is not the correct one for the car. It is not connected to the trans and the driveshaft is out of it. The correct crossmember is needed. This was wrong when I bought it. Interior... The interior is half good/half not. The door panels are excellent, no tears rips or burns and all the fake allen heads are in perfect shape on the bezels. All the white printing on the trunk release, rear defrost, overdrive transmission, lights ect is in excellent condtion. The door sills are in good shape. The center console is excellent, no damage, lid is in perfect shape and not broken. All plastic fake allen heads are not screwed up. Origional Radio is installed (not working - no speakers), T-top seal are in good shape. The headliner is restored and all the trim is in excellent shape. The bad is that the Recaro seats will need to be recovered, dash pad, speaker covers recovered, the carpet replaced or steam cleaned...it is dirty, The rear hatch lid is missing, Exterior... - there is evidence of a repaint at sometime by some cracking in the paint on the drivers door. The car is for the most part Rust free inside and out. I found one spot where there is rust - along the bottom of the rear bumper support core...the actual bumper reinforcment, not the body. Trunk/Hatch Floor boards, rockers, quarters, inside wheel wheel lips, doors are all origional metal. There is some speckles around the fuel door from someone driving with cap hanging out at some point...see pics. The origional hood was not with the car when purchased. A working hood from a 82 crossfire ramair is shown to go on the car. it has rust on the frame so it was not going to be used in the light restoration. A lot of people like the painted bird on it...but it looks dumb on the car to me. I have thought about taping it off and painting the blackish color to the color of the car and keep the bird until I could find another mint rust free turbo/ramair hood. Chassis... Ws6 Suspension, 3.23 TRU Posi 10 bolt Disc brake rear axle. Underside of the car is clean (rust free). The front and rear suspension are all cleaned and epoxy coated black. New Front and Rear Brake pads, Rotors, New front wheel bearings. Included is a complete set of bushings for the entire front and rear end. Tires... The restored Formula wheels & BFG Gforce tires are not inlcuded in the auction price. The origional DT500 aero wheels will be inlucded with 225/65R15 newer tires. The origional DT500 wheels are worth a grand or more. . The Formula wheels shown are Detroit Vintage Wheels availible for $750 for the set and the tires were $800 new, package price of $1100 for the wheels and tires if you want them with the car. Extra Parts... I have a plethera of extra parts to go with the car including...2nd set of Perfect T-tops in the factory GM stoarage bag, t-tops dash covers, switches, extra sun shade, complete A/C box, blower fan motor, starter, a/c condensor, speaker covers, left and right headlight motors, shifter, Rear shocks, interior swithces, a 16k mile instrument gauge cluster, and more. Payment... Cash payment is due when picking the car up. I can arrange shipping to just about anyhwere in the continental US for about $900 or so. I tried to hit everything. This really is a great car.
