Vehicle Detail
A Barn Fresh Original 1947 International KB5 IH Ranch Truck. Truck has original grain box and stock racks. Original Straight 6cyl engine. Original 2speed axle and I believe a five speed transmission. Truck has tilt bed. Odometer reads 20,999 miles (Can not guarantee original miles but based on the truck's use around the ranch this sounds close). This amazing IH Truck has been barn kept by the current owner for the last 25 years. The truck had a new paint job twenty plus years ago. Three of the six tires hold air. This truck will have to be towed to its new home. The engine is not seized. Fan belt turns and so does the drive shaft. We have not attempted to start this antique truck so as to not cause any damage to the engine. This Colorado International Truck has a very rich history. The original owners of the IH Truck used this vehicle on the historical Centennial Ranch. A brief history of the antique International KB5 and the ranch it worked on. * 1879 first generation of Smiths arrived at ranch site and built cabin by the river. Was still Ute Indian territory then. * For next decades they operated as a cow/calf concern—raising their own winter feed at the ranch * In 1947 they purchased the IH truck—presumably in Montrose,CO. * Truck was used on and near the ranch to haul grain/livestock/silage * Truck was always parked in a crude shed from date of purchase (see black and white photo above from Smith Ranch book) * In 1988 Colorado Governor Romer signed and sent a “Centennial Farm Certificate” to the Smiths to recognize a century of ownership by the Smith Brothers * In 1992 current owners purchased the 400 acre Smith Ranch (on a handshake) as well as most of the ranch equipment (including the 1947 IH truck) * Since this purchase the IH truck was never removed from the shed until 10 July 2011 * The ranch was protected by a donated Conservation Easement in 1995 insuring it would remain a working cattle ranch, open space, and wildlife habitat in perpetuity. * In 1992 the owners published a book “Smith Ranch” 1879-1992 documenting the history of the ranch * The name was changed to Centennial Ranch * In 2004 the ranch timber frame barn/log line cabin/and the owners residence “Dashwood House” were featured in Architectural Digest. * Centennial Ranch remains a working cattle ranch to the present day. Truck sold as is and please view all photographs for condition. Truck is located at Centennial Ranch in Montrose, Colorado.
