1973 MERCEDES 450SL WITH DESIRABLE SMALL EUROPEAN CHROME BUMPERS This original 1973 Mercedes-Benz 450SL roadster has only 170K+ original miles, mostly highway miles. 1973 is the only year of the 450SL series to be imported into the US with the attractive European small chrome bumpers before the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration enforced bumper regulations incorporating stronger energy absorbing bumpers without regard to aesthetics for safety reasons. Introduced in late 1972, this particular example is an early US specification car and is thus equipped with the significantly more attractive small chrome bumpers that were fitted to all European cars. It is also fitted with the considerably peppier high compression engine making over 60hp more than the equivalent 1980 version (225hp VS 160hp)! Car is a beauty that sports black exterior and interior color. Outside paint job is decent with some minor scratches. Leather dark color interior has normal wear and tear. Car comes with matching color hard top and its seemingly original dark canvas soft top. The car includes: automatic transmission, power assisted steering, power brakes, electric window lifts, Halogen head and fog lamps, automatic air conditioning with climate control, alpine cd radio and beautiful newer chrome alloy wheels. *All the components for air condition are readily present in the car, it just needs to be recharged. The car drives strong and has a newly replaced battery. There is no signs of transmission malfunction or major deficiencies.
