Vehicle Detail
1976 Ford Gran Torino 2 dr. coupe. 460L 4 barrel engine. Ready to restore! Bought over a year ago locally in Michigan to convert to a Starsky & Hutch clone, and has been in indoor covered storage since. Plans have changed, so I'm now listing it for sale. Very little history is known on the car. Not sure where it's spent most of its life. Looks to be mostly stock, except for a few things like steering wheel and exhaust, etc. Car is in very good shape for the model year. Minor rust in the usual places, but very manageable. Nothing major rusted through. Floor pans are intact and in good condition, as well as the trunk. Some rust in usual spots in quarters, wheel wells, etc. but overall very solid Torino. Not many left to be able to restore. This is an excellent candidate, especially for a Starsky car. Odometer shows 50,227 miles on it. Unknown if it turned over or not. With this size engine in it, I would doubt it would have 150k on it. Currently has a Ford 460L engine, very powerful. Not sure if it's original engine, but I don't believe it to be. I bought a new battery for it, and it starts and runs, but has been idle for many years, so it would be advisable to trailer it home. Will need fresh coolant, oil, trans fluid, etc. It started and ran fine enough for me to test drive down the road, but I didn't trust it to make the 30 mile trip home after sitting so long so I trailered it away. The little I've driven it shows it to have a lot of potential. Brakes did work last year, and a new fuel line connected. The engine will naturally need a total rebuild and going over, as you would expect, but is all there and just needs revamping. This thing has newer stainless steel dual exhaust in great condition, and is loud and menacing! It really has a lot of power, and will be great once the carb is cleaned/rebuilt and has had a total once over. I'm not certain, but believe it has the original C6 four speed automatic transmission. Tires and rims are mix/match, and will need replacing. I was going to use the keystone aluminum rims from another Starsky car, but sold those off. Interior is in very good condition. Seats all intact, only a few tears in drivers seat fabric. Carpet dirty, will need replacing, etc. Dash pad is in great shape, no ripples, cracks, or fading. I believe headliner also is in good shape, but if this was to be restored, all that would swapped out for new anyway. Body is in good condition. Original red paint has faded. No broken windshield or glass. Door panels are in excellent condition. Trunk lid has a small rust hole on left corner. Doors have rust starting in the bottom corners. I've seen them tons worse. Bumpers are in excellent condition! Front bumper looks great, rear bumper will need re-chroming. Doesn't appear to have dents to either. Trunk pan intact, with I believe no rust through. Going from memory, forgot to snap photo of that area. Underbody solid. This would make an excellent Starsky & Hutch clone! The 460L engine alone is worth probably half of my low reserve price. This is a great start to a profitable collector car. Have fun driving down the Woodward Dream Cruise! Very few of these model year Torino's left in existence! Reserve price set very reasonable. This car is located between Flint and Detroit, Michigan. I have a clear Michigan title in hand, and the ignition key. The car will need to be trailered away at buyers expense. It is not in reliable driving condition of any long distance. Prospective buyers encouraged to examine car before bidding. Buyers must pay $500.00 deposit to my paypal account immediately upon auctions end, and the remaining balance must be received within 7 days of auction. Cash or certified bank checks only accepted. Good luck, and happy bidding!
