1970 Cadillac deVille Convertible New Top, New Dual Exhaust with Sanborn headers, 66k miles, Easy Restoration - Drive it this Summer! Previous owner installed headers and claimed the engine was dead. Got it running smooth so I believe it actually is a 66k engine, but it has an external knock. Might even be the headers rapping on the frame from an incorrect install, but I don't have the time to dig into it. See below for more details. I've confirmed pushrods, rocker arms and bridges are good. Flywheel bolts are tight and AC compressor was not the source. AC is not working, not sure of the cause. Harmonic balancer and water pump are not loose or damaged. I do not have time to get into it, which is why I'm starting the bidding at a lower price. I could part it and make more, but would rather not. I do have another 1970 472 on a stand which ran well and has been stored indoors. This is available for an additional $400. Installation of that engine may be possible for an hourly rate (plus materials) by the winner. The cowl tag decodes as: ST 70 68367 = 1970 Cadillac deVille Convertible FWD 10227 BDY = Fleetwood plant, the 10227th convertible of 15172 produced TR 388 = Full Red Leather interior and trim 11 B PNT = Cotillion White paint with black convertible top 08A = Built the 1st week of August 1970 E= EZ eye (tinted) glass (standard with air conditioned cars) Y = 6 way power front seat L = ALC (Automatic Level Control) It is a bolt on option and has been removed by a previous owner K1 = K= Air Conditioning, 1 is Group 1, which include K, E, Y, white wall tires, door edge guards and AM-FM stereo seek radio. The radio and door edge guards were not found when purchased. A previous owner had also removed and discarded the side body moldings, installed a thin bead rocker trim and used fleetwood skirt trim. The car does have good front floors, but will need the frame rails boxed and some rear floor work in addtion to trunk corners (the bain of this era Cadillacs).
