Vehicle Detail
1964 Volkswagen 21-Window Deluxe Microbus - This 1964 bus has had all metal work done by a professional VW shop. Many hours and thousands of dollars went into the rust repair and restoration. The bus was completely disassembled. The paint was stripped down and the entire bus painted in single paint mixed whith sealer and tinted to original colors. This bus has no rust. The undercarriage has been fully painted and detailed. All of the hard work has been done. The bus runs drives, shifts like a new bus. Included is a Letter of Authenticity from the Volkswagen museum in Germany. Similar buses have sold for up to 200k recently. With paint and interior this bus would fall under that level of restoration. To buy a running, restorable bus can run from 30,000 to 35,000 + in today's market. Metal work can run thousands. It would cost over 30k to get a bus to this caliber not including the purchase price of a decent 21 window bus. This is a bargain as all the hard work is done and all that is needed is paint and the interior or you can drive as is and finish in the future. These hard to find interior parts are included, a new front floor mat, the middle and rear deluxe seats correct for this year, and the partition panel with all brackets and hardware. This is a rare opportunity to purchase a complete nut and bolt restored 21 window with fully painted and detailed undercarriage. All frame rails and undercarriage were painted with POR15 tinted to origional color prior to the new belly pans being installed. This bus is better than new and you won't have to worry about future rusting as all hidden areas were painted with POR15. The metal work on this bus is second to none. The pictures speak for themselves and quality is done to factory standards. I have more pictures if needed and will be happy to answer any questions you may have. For an additional cost I will finish the inteior , ie recover all seats, install new door panels mats ect ect.. Drive Train: · freeway geared 12V big-nut transaxle with approx. 20K since rebuild · rebuilt shift linkage, new bushings and rod hanger · desirable 66-67 needle bearing beam with factory sway bar · rebuilt steering system and adjusted steering box · new drag link and center pin · new cables, properly greased · new engine mounts · seamless axle boots · new fuel tank and all new proper metric fuel lines · new load rated LT tires with a nice vintage-looking tread pattern transmission shifts perfectly into all gears rebuilt reduction boxes and bearings (all painted prior to installation) Engine: · new clutch · oil cooler seals · intake manifold gaskets · cleared intake heat riser · blasted and repainted engine tins · 1600cc single port engine runs great · Brakes: · fresh complete brake job, all brake parts were painted i.e., drums, backing plates, brackets, etc. · all new metal "hard lines" front to rear · new wheel cylinders · new master cylinder · new brake shoes · new rubber "soft lines" front and rear · freshly-turned brake drums front and rear · working and properly-adjusted emergency brake · grease-able E-brake pin installed Body - Paint and Metalwork: Paint: Painted in PPG K35 sealer mixed with PPG single-stage and tinted to factory correct Sealing Wax/Beige Grey paint codes. This makes for a 100% washable UV-stable finish that can easily be prepped over without stripping if you decide to go with a full-tilt paint job in the future. This method for a few reasons: I wanted this bus to be driven and anyone who has ever owned a full-tilt restoration knows that once they are done to that level, the thought of a nick or scratch will usually keep it in the garage. The second consideration was cost; full-tilt paint jobs are expensive and would have possibly doubled the selling price! Metalwork: · properly done metalwork to a high standard · belly pans opened up to take care of all the hidden rust sunroof buses tend to collect · replaced top hats, outriggers, cross members, belly pans and floors at the factory seams · rebuilt entire heater duct system replacing all of the commonly rusted joints · replaced inner and outer rockers · while the bus was apart the belly pans and frame rails were painted with POR15 to prevent rust in the future · nice solid doors all around · very nice nose skin, required very minimal bodywork Interior: dash and cab areas were painted in PPG single-stage Beige Grey · radio block off plate · nice original speedometer and horn button · repainted steering column, E-brake lever and shifter in proper Silver Beige · nice original speedometer and working fuel gauge · original clock in place but not currently operational · new front seat upholstery on Wolfsburg West padding · fully usable and drivable as-is but interior is left unfinished includes middle and rear seats (original deluxe) includes all jail bars uncut dash Other Notable Extras: · restored pop-out and door window frames painted in PPG single-stage Beige Grey · original glass and all new seals · new body seals throughout · new Wolfgang Safari Windows · new wiper shafts and safari pivots · new sunroof cover; sunroof slides open and closed with ease · full underside of the belly pans, frame rails and front floor were painted with tinted dark grey POR15 · wheel wells painted in Sealing Wax Red for a factory-fresh look · new taillight assemblies and new turn signal housings and lenses · excellent electrical system, everything is working as it should · collector vehicle registration new wiring deluxe trim looks new front and rear bumpers look brand new and painted beige grey fully detailed and painted undercarriage including wheel wells and engine bay **** For an additional price I can include finished interior · On Aug-14-11 at 20:23:19 PDT, seller added the following information: FAQ: the dog legs were both replace, all metal work done with funky green metal.
