Vehicle Detail
Rare, super clean, super original, gorgeous Volvo. Turbocharged with factory intercooler and only 75k original miles. Yes, the odometer works! Very well kept, lightly modified. Rust free, cold air. All manuals, I even have the original tape head cleaner pen! I'm sad to let her go! Hello eBayers, I know there is a lot of writing and info here, but please take the time to read it. I have always given an in-depth description of the cars I sell on eBay. I find that buyer appreciate this. If there is something I haven't covered, please let me know and contact me. This car is worth a great deal to me. However, I am listing it as a no reserve. I have done this in the past, and I find that the law of supply and demand takes over and USUALLY the right price is met. I sincerely hope it will be in this case, because I am moving and regrettably, must sell this beauty. You could walk away a buyer who just "stole" a gorgeous 245tic, but nevertheless you will certainly be a proud and happy owner. This car will not disappoint when seen "in the flesh" or driven! Ok then, you are bidding on my pride and joy - this is the very last of my beloved vehicular possessions that I need to sell. After selling all my collectible cars on ebay in preparation for my overseas move, it is time to sell my personal daily driver. I keep her in the garage, air conditioned and happy. I have hung onto her as long as I can. I unfortunately have to sell her. One of my first cars was a 1982 240 turbo, and it doesn't hold a candle to this one. I'm a car fanatic, and love oddball 60s 70s and 80s cars. I have sold several of my cars through eBay, getting ready to move, all with positive feedback. These include several Mercedes 300 Diesels, a VW Westfalia, a v12 Jaguar convertible, a Datsun Fairlady Roadster, a Volvo 262 Bertone, and some others. You can be certain you are getting all the info that I have on the car you are bidding on, and I disclose everything to the best of my knowledge. The good, the neutral, the things that may need help, the history, it is all here, nothing is being hidden or not disclosed. If there is something that you would like to know, please call me at (512) 588-3492 or send me an email. You may get a quicker response by calling me. I would like to add, please do not bid on this item if you are not wanting to follow through. As you may know, eBay ads cost money, $120 to be exact, and I do need to sell this car in a timely manner for my move. She is worth every penny, and has a remarkable history. The "first" buyer for the last car I sold here, a 1979 Mercedes 280se, kept making excuses as to why he could not pay the deposit, and eventually flaked out. The second buyer stepped in and bought it, was happy and left positive feedback, but guys, please, do not waste my time or your time. The car is listed to the best of my knowledge and experience in ownership, and honesty is key for me. Please rest assured the car is a wonderful example of a rare 245tic, and I'm confident you will be happy. Please follow through on your purchase, As stated before, I must move and selling this car must be done in a timely manner. With that said, I can store the car for you in my air-conditioned garage in Lakeway for 2 weeks, perhaps a little more if you contact me first. The cut and dry: This is a rare car. 75k original miles with odometer working all the time. Some Volvo guys would claim this the holy grail of 2-series. The intercooled turbo was only made from the factory for 1.5 years. 1984.5 to 1985. In 1985 boost pressure was raised from the factory. This is also the LAST YEAR of the turbo. Add the classic wagon lines, and the fact that there is no sunroof (desirable because of the stifness it adds to the car), and you have a truly one-of-a-kind car. This car is fantastic. Plain and simple. A true unmolested, unmodified, rust-free, healthy car with cold A/C, no leaks and no problems, and fresh paint. Even the cruise control works flawlessly. This car was kept meticulously as a "time capsule", while all the time being kept healthily running and driving, on average, 30 to 40 miles a week, to keep her fresh, happy and spry, and keep the rubber, elastics and mounts excercised. It must be driven to be believed, but this car does NOT have even the slightest feeling of "looseness". She is solid, tight and still drives and feels very fresh. As I said before, I love this car so much I had to save it for last to sell. I hate to see her go, but I know someone will appreciate her and continue maintaining and preserving her. Recent additions and mods: > Added electronic boost controller. There is a boost increase knob on the dash. I have not set it higher than stock, but installed it because I had it. I don't like to run my cars hard or race them around, although I've seen these turbos take a beating and just want more. > New timing belt > New fuel pumps > Fresh paint a few months ago. Looks spectacular! > New headlights, corner lights and taillights. > Installed wide rear view mirror > A/C recently serviced. It is COLD. Not volvo-cool, but proper COLD. > Volvo GT strut braces ordered from IPD > New 8mm IPD plug wires > New Iridium plugs > Roofrack delete kit from IPD - I have the roofrack if you prefer it on. > Air/Fuel meter installed > New driving light kit on front bumper Interior: What can I say? The pictures look great, but seriously don't do her justice. This car is clean, clean, clean. The carpet is beautiful, No dirt or dust in the crevices, no funk on the steering wheel, absoultely spotless. I can't give her anything but a 9.8 out of 10 for being 26 years old. The interior is overall quite fresh, and still has that "old new car" smell if you will. Has the rare armrest. The plastics are clean and soft, the dash is 100% crack free and the interior doesn't feel like it is going to crack and peel when you touch it. What I'm trying to say is that there is plenty of life left in it's components and materials. The driver's side seat is beginning to start to develop stress marks on the seat bottom, which can been seen in the pictures, but it is in the very, very early stages and the seat has held up excellently. I can sit on it all day long. The passenger seat is like new, and frankly there has only been one passenger I have given a ride to, and the previous owner was single and drove pretty much alone. The interior pictures don't do it justice. Seriously, its CLEAN. Clean carpets, clean trunk, clean headliner, clean everything. Literally. It's gonna be hard to come by a Volvo this well taken care of. All power features including windows work well. Engine/Drivetrain: The engine runs super well. Excellent Volvo reliability in a well maintained motor. Starts up great, I added a cold-start reglating button on the dash, I can control the cold start injector at will. I've done this to most my Volvos, its a tradition. Zero play in the turbo shaft, smooth, linear boosting. A super healthy motor. Now, the transmission... I have NEVER seen a 240 with this great a transmission. I rarely say this, because everyone's standards are different, but let me say it anyway...this transmission is PERFECT. Tight, precise shifts, no looseness in the linkage, no hesitation, nothing. It shifts PERFECT. Upshift and downshift. The car drives straight and true down the highway, and feels like a much younger car. It is a true pleasure to drive, doesn't burn oil, doesn't do anything it shouldn't. I drive her 5 or 6 days a week with complete confidence. This car truly stays nice and tight down the highway, and as I said before, the car is not "loose". All the joints and endlinks are healthy and the car feels solid. This is VERY important to me. A loose car takes all the confidence out of driving to me. There are absolutely, positively, no leaks anywhere. The car is dry and clean. Exterior/Undercarriage: THIS CAR IS RUST-FREE. This is why I bought it in the first place. In fact, the undercarriage black coating is still visible. It literally It is fresh and pretty. Only the exhaust shows surface rust, which is expected anyway, even on the frame. I have searched all over, so have a few buddies in the auto industry, and there is no rust to be found on the frame or chassis. The only thing there was is a little bit of rust-corrosion in between the rear driver's side window and the wagon bed window. (See picture). That's all I see in the way of rust, and its easy to fix. In honesty, I wanted the paint shop to fix it, but they didn't write it down. Paint shop is owned by a buddy and he gave me a $1200 paint job for quite less, so I let it be. A/C and Climate: The A/C is important to me, and this car has a fully working, ICE COLD A/C system. It has been meticulously maintained, and taken for service whether or not it needed it, just to keep the seals and oils fresh. It is not just cool, but COLD. You can drive around comfortably in the summer. As I said before, its not just "volvo-cool", but properly cold. Volvo owners know its hard to get a nice ice cold air going in their cars... but, you will find it here. Drive comfortably in the Texas heat! Other: Everything on this car works. Literally. The radio, gauges, lights, everything. I cannot think of or see one item that doesn't work properly. I have all the original documents that came with the car, incuding even the original tape head cleaner pen. Title, stickers, tags: The title is a good, blue title, IN MY NAME, and ready to be transferred to you. Recent inspection and registration. I will require a $500 cash deposit, sent to paypal, within 12 hours of auction close, and the remainder within 3 days, in cash, or a cashier's check that I can clear at a local bank on the day of pickup. If you need other arrangements, please contact me first. Please honor your bid, I have put a lot of time into this ad, and for someone to just back out is very unfair. Please let me know your intentions if you have zero feedback, or I may cancel your bids. I'm sorry, I've just had bad experiences in the past with bidders with zero or negative feedback. One of you guys are bound to ask something like: "Can I drive this car straight to California or New York??" - Well, I don't see why not, I kept her meticulously mantained so she will be healthy, but then again, I'm the kind of guy who rents a car when I go out of town. So, in conclusion, I feel like the car would make it, but IS 25 ye6rs old, and a collectible, so I would not neccessarily do it. I would have a transposrt company pick it up if you live a considerable distance. Believe me, this car is worth it. Don't risk the rocks and pebbles and road hazards on a 1500 mile trip. To date, every car I have sold on eBay, including a 1975 Peugeot 504 DIESEL that was driven to CANADA from Texas (I know, right?), has made it to its destination just fine if the new owner decided to drive it, but of course, I cannot guarantee anything to you. I hope it makes sense and you understand. Good luck bidding, I know you will love this car just as much as I. I will sorely miss her. It's almost like this car was built for me. The black and white with the tan interior is just my style, and the cleanliness and style speaks volumes about Volvo in the 80s. Combine this with decent fuel economy and roadworthiness, and you have a true champion of a car that you can show and drive and feel comfortable driving. She will not let you down!
