Vehicle Detail
For Sale is a beautifully restored, adult owned and maintained, 1990 300zx Twin Turbo 5 speed. I purchased this vehicle in November 2002 with 114k miles from the Tampa Florida area where it spent it's life. It was in stock form, adult owned, and in good condition with no history of accidents or abuse. During initial inspections of the car it was discovered the engime and trans had been replaced with a late 94 early 95 model per the serial numbers. Findings also revealed it was originally an auto transmission converted to a 5 speed. The turbos were tired so the engine was removed and all needed maintenance accomplished including new stock turbos. Thereafter it was used solely as my commuter to and from work at about 140 highway miles per day 2-3 days per week excluding bad weather days. During this time various modifications started taking place. A full stainless exhaust from the turbos to the tail pipes was added. New wheels and tires, a body kit and j-spec tail lights. As items on the car required maintenance they were repaired, replaced, or upgraded with OEM or better equivalents with an emphasis on style and performance. As this car was my daily ride for work it received all scheduled maintenance and inspections. The a/c system was updated with R-34 components. The evaporator and compressor were replaced with good used components from a 94 model. At 190k miles shortly following it's 60k maintenace an idler pulley failed resulting in timing belt failure which prompted a complete engine overhaul. My goal at that point was to zero time the engine and add some punch. (refer to the modifications list) The block was inspected for defects, cylinders bored properly using a torque plate to .020 oversize. New forged Wiseco pistons, new OEM bearings, seals, balanced crankshaft, cooling system ported, etc. The heads were professionally rebuilt with new valves, springs, guides, seals, lifters, multi-angle valve grinds, etc. The upper and lower plenums were ported (gasket matched) as were the heads and exhaust manifolds. Then they were flowed and matched. The turbos were replaced with Z1 stage one turbos. 555 nismo injectors and Ashspec oversized intercoolers were added. An Ashspec Doolz intake system and ECU chip were added. A new EFI harness and the list goes on. While the engine was out the engine bay was repainted and the engine itself was given a new painted appearance. The car was once again returned to the road as my commuter. Along the way the brake system was upgraded, The suede interior was enhanced with red and black vinyl. The seats were re-upholstered with new leather. The steering wheel was replaced with aftermarket retaining the cruise control and HICAS, and various gauges were added. Many enhancements were made to all aspects of the car including exhaust, suspension, and braking. The stereo system had been upgraded before I purchased the car and although it's dated by todays standards it works flawlessly, sounds great and will still make your ears ring and the rearview mirror vibrate when you crank it. There are a few blemishes to the interior panels in the trunk area such as scratches and a couple of cracks in the plastic. All fluids used are synthetic Mobil One, Redline, and Amsoil. To date every driveline component less the bullet proof rear diff has been replaced, or rebuilt as needed right down to the wheel bearings with nothing having more than an easy 100k miles at this point. After the engine overhaul I drove the Z for another couple years without issue and brought her to the current mileage of 260k, of which the last 70k were flawless highway miles. In 2007 my daughter was born, gas prices went thru the ceiling and my priorities changed. I parked the car for the next 4 years and drove a more economical car. Shortly prior to parking her the first 60k maintenance was completed since overhaul. It was during the Z's tenure as the garage queen she received the new leather seat skins and the red & black vinyl. The wheels were refinished and customized. A few items that were needing attention were replaced including the power steering pump and hoses, rack and pinion and a/c compressor. The car was driven around the neighborhood once a month to keep fresh totaling 18 miles in that time period. During that time I acquired a virtually new 5 speed from a fellow Z owner that had only 32K miles on it as he upgraded to the 99 model trans. It went in with a 6 puck RPS sprung clutch and PP mated to a Lightweight Fidenza Flywheel, and new throw out bearing. This year I decided to finish the car and put it up for sale so I can focus on restoring my Jeep, a more family oriented fun vehicle. After 21 years and many miles the original paint was showing it's age so she now wears new paint and accents. She received a new fiberglass spoiler and custom nose center panel. The body kit was added a year after I bought her. The wheels always ran Nitto 555's tires with front and rear offsets. The factory Aztec Red color was kept in a base/clear, then sanded and polished. Black painted accents were added around the lower body and mirrors. New vinyl decals and 30% window tint. She is truely beautiful and a solid attention getter. Everything works and she's as quick as she looks. Don't let the total mileage fool you. This car is ready to go anywhere and a proven driver. You will not be disappointed. I have been a forum member on Twinturbo.net since I bought the car. You may search under my screen name DAYTONAZ for multitudes of photos over the years and more posts than you'll care to read. I have just about every receipt that was worth keeping and pictures of every aspect of the rebuild and modifications to the Z including the engine rebuild and paint process. I'm a professional aircraft technician for a major airline and have worked on cars before I was old enough to drive. I've had my hands on every aspect of this car and have performed the work with great pride, care, and expertise. I encourage you to ask questions if interested in the car. Upon sale of the car I will include a factory service manual, Wolf car cover, t-top bags, a few spare parts, and a thumbdrive with copies of all pictures documenting the build and mods to the car. The modifications list is that pulled from (TT.net). I have a clear Florida title and a clean Carfax report which agrres with the AutoCheck report provided here. I have been an Ebay member for 10 years and have an excellent feedback rating. Feel free to email me with any questions or requests. The car is available for review if you're in the area but please no daydreamers, joy riders, and tire kickers. This car has never been raced or abused but it has been pushed at times to set the boost controller and other times just because I could. I will tell you without exaggeration this car is deadly fast easily pushing the 500hp mark on pump gas. The car has not been Dyno tuned as I will leave that to the new owner and I can direct you to a premier Z tuner in the local area if interested. The current ECU chip has performed perfectly for the modifications it supports. As I have been the sole driver of this vehicle and considering the time, expense, type of car, and it's capabilities, PLEASE READ>> An unexperienced driver not accustomed to higher horsepower, turbo boost and the handling characteristics of this car could easily loose control with bad results. Therefore, no one will occupy the left seat for test drives until it is verified you have the funds and commitment to buy the car. I will be more than happy to demonstrate the car. The car will not be released under any circumstances until full payment is received and cleared It will be sold AS-IS with no warranties. I'm not interested in trades, or payments. A bill of sale and title transfer will be accomplished at the time of sale. No exceptions. There is a link to photobucket following the mods list with more pics and sub-albums detailing the modifications and rebuilds. Thankyou and good luck with the bidding.
