Vehicle Detail
Relisted!! Lowered Reserve.... Selling my wife’s baby. 1962 - 1200 Beetle. Triple Black original 6 volt system. It runs great and I would drive across the country. As you can see in the pictures there is a very minor CV boot leak (I think). The engine, however, does not leak at all and runs superb. I purchased this car from an elderly gentleman in Virginia back in 2003 and have enjoyed the car tremendously. He entered the car in multiple shows and won several awards, but they have been lost in the many moves I have made over the last few years (Military). I have put 5,000 miles on the car since that time. Not sure if the mileage is correct (50,443), but the body is in great condition and I think it is possible. I do know both floor pans were replaced and that the car was repainted and restored several years ago. The paint still shows nice with minor faults such as flecks that have chipped off and such. Not noticeable, but want to represent the vehicle as honestly as I can. Always garaged until recently - which is why we are selling it. No room now and I don’t want to chance the vehicle getting messed up by the weather, or simply sit and not be enjoyed by someone who would like to drive it around. Things recently done to the car: · Adjust valve clearance · Adjust timing · New plug wires · New generator · New fuel pump · New alternator · Brakes adjusted · New clutch – with proper adjustment · All wiring reviewed and redone (where necessary) for proper functionality Youtube video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xApsL-G4FWI Also comes with bug floor mats and a semi-custom heavy duty car cover and straps to keep it on in high wind. As mentioned, should only need the CV boot fixed and some TLC to go with that. Please email with any questions – Thanks for looking!! If you have zero feedback do not bid – if you are not seriously interested in purchasing this vehicle do not bid. Reserve has been set to a fair market price. On Jul-30-11 at 14:51:55 PDT, seller added the following information: Received some more questions concerning the engine and the body. The number on the frame "tunnel" is 4424448. The engine block number is 6-880-882, so I would conclude from this site (http://www.lightner.net/ybdb/serno.html) that it is, in fact the original engine. The carb is a solex and has been rebuilt with the appropriate kit from a VW specialist in Raleigh, NC. Also, the battery well has no rust, just some residue / (horse hair?) from the fibers of the back seat. Thanks - Jason
