Vehicle Detail

This awesome camping bus is named Gus. I have had him for 2 years. Gus is up for adoption because I am fixing up a 1965 split window bus and need space. The engine is a wonderful 1600, rebuilt by a licensed and well known vw mechanic 3200 miles ago. Also did 700 in brake work by the same mechanic, have all receipts. Everything works well. Transaxle no problems. No problems mechanically at all. Tires were new 3,200 miles ago as well. I have fixed up the inside to be like a little cabin and very suitable for all your needs. I am amazed at how much fits in the cupboards. I am including a red camp stove I bought specially for Gus. I have two cupboards in the back which I call my garage, all necessary fluids and necessities fit there. His exterior paint was an art project and is a high quality metal paint with a clear coat over it. He has no leaks. He has only no rust except his front. He has what I call a bent beak as someone dinged his front end a little so I bought a nice bra for him to wear. Quite stunning. The front would cost $350 for someone to fix. $250 for the panel and $100 for welder to weld it in, then all rust would be gone. Or body filler and a weekend to make him look like new again. Either way the front end isn't bad the way it is and the bra completely covers the dents. He has no other dings. Pretty amazing for a 69. For his age he is in amazing shape. Gus and I are good buds and he is a very reliable bus. I'd like to see him go to a good and loving home. He even has a hammock in back for your instruments. I carry a guitar there and a mandolin. It works better than the traditional wood shelf, as it has more give for the instruments. I am an internationally respected artist and painted Gus to be fun. I am willing to sell the bus internationally but know nothing of how to transport them so that would be the buyers issue. John Muir says in his book to paint the engine compartment so it makes you smile when you get in. I painted the whole bus to make you smile. The words on the top are the song "Those were the days". Buyer responsible for shipping. I will assist in any way I can. vw, hippy bus, bug, westfalia, art bus, car art, On Aug-02-11 at 07:35:10 PDT, seller added the following information: I just had a question about Gus. I will share the answer with all of you. She wanted to know if Gus would make it to Texas. I took him a total of 1800 mi last year trouble free on my trek. Also, she wanted to know if his nose is painted under the bra. I painted the vents but not the nose. I go to lower California each winter and will paint the nose free after he is repaired. The bra works so well that I just thought he looks stunning in it and so left that. I took Gus to the store yesterday and everyone smiles when they see him and one man working construction did a very enthusiatic all right to me. He takes awesome Karma of smiles with him.On Aug-05-11 at 17:24:07 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention a few things that I important I think. Both driver and passenger door panels are original with no tears. The front headliner has no tears and is original the back headliner is wood and original. Gus was a day camper but I didn't care for the furnishings as they werre delaming and sort of unthoughtful. Cabinets were large and you just threw things into the large pit. Now the cabinets are well thought, hold a lot and have easy access. The platform and floor have new blue commercial grade carpet and look awesome. Behind the seat and at slider access is an organizer for hand sanitizer and items you use most when traveling. Passenger seat is covered to match drivers but passenger seat really doesn't need the cover. The drivers seat does. Rubber mat in driving compartment and walk through are original mats. Hopefully, that is everything. Gus awaits the lucky person who wins him.
