Vehicle Detail

This is a neat car...its a 1977 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Indy 500 Pace Car. I think they made about 1500 of these or so...and are pretty rare today. I think it was sold new in Indiana..but has been in California since 1978-79 or so judging by its original blue and yellow California license plates. Haven't seen any rust other than a little surface rust here and there. The silver portions of the car have been recently repainted...the black parts on the body are original. Its a really original car...I dont think anything has been changed on it of significance...the radio, steering wheel, wheels, etc are all original to this car. It has a 403 engine, automatic trans, power steering power brakes, tilt wheel, climate control ac, sunroof and of course the Indy 500 Pace Car options...look carefully at the shippers copy of the invoice on this car..it has all the options on it. This car is heavily documented...from the original press release booklet about the car which has a picture of James Garner driving one at the race, to Oldsmobile's letter describing the cars' features. The documentation also includes the original owners manual, warranty manual, ASC (American Sunroof Corporation) manual on the sunroof with original metal tool to manually operate the sunroof and more. The spots on the trunk floor are splattered glue from the carpeted mat which I pulled up to take that shot. No rust there...underneath the trunklid is great too. Wheels are the original 15x8 SSI wheels with I think a 5th one as a spare. Car has been sitting for about 11 years but runs and drives really nice. Odometer says 39k or so...I dont know if its 39k or 139k..but the car drives very nice and tight. Engine runs really nice, trans shifts well and overall is mechanically sound. The ac blows but needs a charge...and the tires are old. The drivers window is intermittent..the switch seems dirty...some times doesnt move other times goes down really slowly so it needs to be lubed. The sunroof same thing...it clicks like its getting power and wants to move but looks like it has to be cleaned and greased up. Allthe lights work and the radio works too but its a little scratchy on the volume. Overall a good car, neat for cruise night...you can polish it up some more and make it look better...but realistically to be restored you will have to repaint it and apply new graphics. Cool for a driver as is..but there are door dings etc in the black. The black parts on the side are big decals and there are bubbles etc. For 34 years old its pretty good...just trying to paint a realistic picture for you... Car is for sale locally too and auction might end at any time.... TERMS: Full payment is to be in my hands within 4 days of auction end. Please ask all questions BEFORE you bid...your bid means you will pay that amount for the information you have at the time you bid...period! Manner of payment is strictly my choosing...depends on whom you bank with etc...check with everyone you need to check with BEFORE you bid!On Aug-01-11 at 23:43:47 PDT, seller added the following information:Hi! Ron, My name is Jeff Croce. I'm the advisor of the 77 Delta 88 Royale Indy Pace Car in the OCA. I have documented that the car you have up for auction is not only 1 of 2401 made , but also is 1 of 122 Festival 500 car from the track. Your car is #107 . It was a car that the press in public relations used. This checks out from my official list Oldsmobile's first lady Helen Earley gave me on Aug 24, 1999. Since I received the list I've only found 3 Festival 500 cars. The other 2 were RUST BUCKETS!! Good Luck in your auction. If you need anything just ask! Jeff Croce
