Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1974 Super Beetle, equipped with a four-cylinder engine and manual transmission. The Beetle was recently donated to the AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) Museum in Hershey, Pennsylvania, a non-profit museum dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of transportation history. The car was registered and being used at the time of donation. This Beetle is in good overall condition and can be used as is or restored. It is offered with a reasonable opening bid and no reserve. The car is not for sale outside of eBay and the auction will not be ended early. All proceeds benefit the Museum. The car was test driven around the Museum campus. It was not taken out on the open road. It starts easily and drives, shifts and stops with no obvious problems. The car is sold as is, where is, but we did check its systems and found that it has a functional aftermarket cassette player, working wipers, horn and heater. The front lights and signals work; the rears are not currently functioning. If you have a specific question about something, please ask and we will investigate it for you. The body is straight and the doors and panels have good fit/alignment. The car has been repainted and shows some bubbling and cracking under the paint, particularly near the rear window. There is damage to the front headlight bucket and a scrap on the front fender that needs a touchup, along with small dents and minor damage at various locations. The interior is complete and in decent overall condition. There are some small plastic trim pieces that will need repair or replacement. The vinyl is also coming off the door panels. The chrome trim and bumpers are all present but show signs of wear. The underside is in comparable condition to the rest of the vehicle with no holes or rust through. It does show obvious signs of rust as illustrated in the accompanying photos. The Super Beetle is accurately represented in the photographs but interested parties are encouraged to ask questions and/or schedule a personal inspection. This vehicle is offered as is, where is, with no warranty expressed or implied. It has a valid Pennsylvania title which will be transferred to the new owner upon successful completion of the transaction. Shipping and transportation of the car will are the responsibility of the new owner. We will gladly work with you or the shipper/transporter of your choice to coordinate the move. The new owner will have two weeks from the completion of the auction to pick up the vehicle unless other arrangements are made in advance. If the car is not picked up within this time frame (and other satisfactory arrangements are not made), the Museum reserves the right to charge a storage fee for the vehicle based on the local going rate. Payment may be in the form of cash, money order, cashier’s check. Thank you for your interest in our 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle and this auction. Interested parties are encouraged to email or call with questions, to request additional photographs or to schedule a personal inspection.
