Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1987 Ford Escort GL Station Wagon equipped with a four-cylinder engine and 4-speed manual transmission. The Escort is owned by the AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) Museum in Hershey, Pennsylvania, a non-profit museum dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of transportation history. We recently took the car out of storage. It started right up with the installation of a charged battery and fresh gas. This Escort is in very good overall condition. It is an economical, good running vehicle that was well-maintained by its previous owner. It is approaching antique/vintage car age and could be appreciated as a collector car or used as regular transportation. It is offered with a reasonable opening bid and no reserve. The car is not for sale outside of eBay and the auction will not be ended early. All proceeds benefit the Museum. The car was test driven around the Museum campus. It was not taken out on the open road. It starts, drives, shifts and stops with no obvious problems. It was used as regular transportation up until about three years ago when it was donated to the Museum. The car is sold as is, where is, but we did check its systems and found all lights and equipment to be in working order. If you have a specific question about something, please ask and we will investigate it for you. The body is straight and the doors and panels have good fit/alignment. We believe the paint is original and in good condition. There are small rock chips and some cracking to clear protective areas near the rear quarters. There is no rust, bubbles or evidence of repairs. The interior is complete and also in very good condition. The tires are like new. If features cloth seats, front and rear. This car was garaged throughout its life and shows little wear or sun damage. The underside is in comparable condition to the rest of the vehicle with no holes or rust through. In fact, the car has only very minor surface rust as shown in the accompanying photos. The car includes an original dealership brochure, several other factory documents, a car cover, three new wheel center caps and two hydraulic struts for the hood. The Escort is accurately represented in the photographs but interested parties are encouraged to ask questions and/or schedule a personal inspection. This vehicle is offered as is, where is, with no warranty expressed or implied. It has a valid Pennsylvania title which will be transferred to the new owner upon successful completion of the transaction. Shipping and transportation of the car will are the responsibility of the new owner. We will gladly work with you or the shipper/transporter of your choice to coordinate the move. The new owner will have two weeks from the completion of the auction to pick up the vehicle unless other arrangements are made in advance. If the car is not picked up within this time frame (and other satisfactory arrangements are not made), the Museum reserves the right to charge a storage fee for the vehicle based on the local going rate. Payment may be in the form of cash, money order, cashier’s check. Thank you for your interest in our 1987 Ford Escort and this auction. Interested parties are encouraged to email or call with questions, to request additional photographs or to schedule a personal inspection. You may contact us through the “ask the seller a question” link on this page or by calling Jeffrey Bliemeister, Museum Curator, at 717-566-7100 ext. 104. All proceeds from this sale benefit the AACA Museum, a 501 (C) 3 non-profit educational institution.
