Vehicle Detail

I have up for NO RESERVE ABSOLUTE AUCTION SALE I have a 1949 Chevy Business Sports coupe. I have heard it called business coupe but I am then told business coupes have no backs seats and that sports coupes do so you decide. I have had this car for the past two years. I am selling all my extra cars, trucks and projects. This is by far the hardest toy for me to sell. This car is grandma stock. I have thousands in extra parts that I will detail later that are extra is buyer wants that I just couldn't bring myself to modify this car. It is a 216 straight 6 cylinder with a 3 speed on the tree. Body- This car is beautiful. My kids and love it and hate it. They love parades, shows and geetting picked up at school in it but hate waiting for 20 minutes every time we stop to eat or fuel and someone comes up to ask about it or look at it. I got this from a lawyer that this was his first car he owned in the 70's. He had it resored in the early 90's and then it sat. The right lower quarter has some bondo cracking. This isn't bondo from rust, he said it was dented when he was a kid. The other quarter has a scrape in the paint not the metal from him brushing the garage pulling out. There are other various chips in the paint but no rust on th body. The rockers and inner rockers are great which is usually a problem on these cars. The floor boards are solid. The spare tire well does have rust and is an easy replacement with oe gauge steel replacements for $135. The trunk floor is rock solid. The chrome is great with a few spots of pitting. The right front (passenger side) outer grill tooth is missing. It fell off one day on the way to a car show. The glass is nice, drivers window has crack. All the stainless trim is on the car. The paint as you can see shows its self well. It does have chip and nicks thoughout the car. You just can't beat black with wide white walls. Interior- This is one of the cars finest features. It has flawless tan velour plush seats with subtle brown pinstripes. The center section of the door panels has matching material. The rear floor has dark brown carpet and front has rubber mat all in excellent shape. Pedals have new rubber. All chrome handles are in awesome shape. The dash is nice, the ivory knobs are all there but some have nicks. The original am radio is there but either it or the mono speaker is not working because nothing happens when you turn it on. Heater works well. Speedo/odometer doesn not work I believe it is the cable. All gages work and the cluster glass has some of the silkscreen numbers are delaminated but I have new glass with new numbers on it going with car. The headliner is in perfect shape with tan material and the original bow style. When restored this car got new seals, rubber bumpers and the fuzzy strips in the window channels. Inerior is awesome and smells like new! Mechanical/Powertrain-The stovebolt 216 runs great. Heat just got to the battery yesterday so I just dropped a new 6 volt battery from NAPA in. This car sat after it was restored. I didn't even mess with cleaning the tank. I bought new tank and sending unit. He also couldn't tell me if the the head was fitted for unleaded gas so I had the head/valves redone and guides set up for unleaded fuel. Carb was rebuilt, and new fuel pump that also has a dual vacuum pump feature to help aid the slow wipers but i never plumbed for this, but it is available. The brakes recieved new master cylinder, wheel cylinders and shoes. I have stock air filter system that isn't in picture. Replaced front pitman/drag link and it bushings. This car rides and steers like a dream. I replaced the bias ply and the 5 inch rims with 7" wide 15" diameter Wheel Vintiques powder coated black rims and stainless ribbed beauty rings with bowtie chrome center caps, all wrapped in a set of Radial Goodyear wide white wall tires. These are made to look like bias ply. These are the diamond side wall real white walls, they aren't adhered to the side they are cast into the tire during molding in the USA. I have over $1500 in just wheels and tires. The first day I had them on I came out and had a stain on the left front white wall, I have no idea what it was. It can be hidden with white wall touch up, but I didn't want to hide it. Clutch trans and rear end all good. The engine runs great, it start fast and easy on daily driving if it sits for a week the choke needs to be on for a second or two to start. It has doesn't smoke or leave any leaking puddles in the driveway. It ticks and clatters but i think it is normal on a old solid lifter engine. Hot rod stuff available at extra cost- The auction is just for the car. The reason I am doing this is because someone may just want this car like it is and to keep it like it is in its stock form. Here is what I have.... I have a 1951 torque tube rear end center section from a powerglide car which means it is a 3.55 gear opposed to the 4.11 that is in the car meaning you can run 70 mph without the rods sounding like they will fly out of the motor. It is a direct bolt in and the car will still look stock. I have a 261 that was out of a nice running early 55 1 ton truck. This is a still a stovebolt motor so it looks stock like the car was never touched but it has a full pressure oil pump system and quite a bit more horse power and torque stock. This motor was rebuilt anyway with .020" over pistons. Total rebuild. A Patricks performance 264 camshaft was installed, with new solid lifters. Head was milled a few thousandths to raise compression. Disregard the turbo setup in the picture. The carb and turbo are not included. The stock powder coated intake and exhaust manifold are, but I also have a Clifford 4 barrel intake included with adapter plates and plate to go to 2 barrel carb. I also have new Fenton cast iron exhaust manifolds included. I also have a LUK clutch kit included with this package. I had lowering blocks and u bolts for the rear, but I only found the u bolts so only count on the but may find the blocks. I have $4k in these hot rod goodies. I will offer the winner of the car this package for an additional $2k. In summary this is not a show car but better then a daily driver. This car is wonder and my favorite toy I have ever owned. It is ready for the parade ready. I have listed about all I know about this car. I have a clean and clear Missouri title in my name. Here are some youtube videos of a run through the gears and a walk around the car. Thank you!
