We are offering an 1949 Plymouth 4 door Special Deluxe. This car starts, runs and drives. My father in law bought this car three years ago from a person in Vermont. He purchased it due to being told it was from his birth year of 1947. However when I later searched the internet, I found the front grill details indicated it was a 1949. As a result he has lost interest and is wishing to recuperate some of his costs. I drive the car a few times a week in a semi rural area. It is a pleasure to tool along down the long winding, wooded roads. It starts easily, shifts, runs, steers well and stops predictably. The vehicle maintains temperature (it has a mechanical gauge mounted under dash). The fuel gauge does not work, but the charge gauge does. The dual horns sound wonderful and people love to hear them! The car was inspected for road use last year, but the vehicle is being sold without title, plates or registration. We will provide you with a bill of sale.The general condition is fair. The body is straight. The exterior trim is very good condition and 100% complete! Because it is the Special Deluxe you will find the dash and instrumentation are more ornate than the standard model. There are some rust spots as you can see in the photos. The rear springs are sagging. The interior needs replacing. The radio is missing. Paint is faded and possibly original. Tires are good. There is no working spare or tire changing tools. The brake hydraulics: master cylinder, rear lines, wheel cylinders, hoses, springs and shoes were replaced last year. The engine and transmission appears to have been out of the car recently, indicating an overhaul, but I am not able to confirm this as fact. The engine runs very well and has no unusual or alarming noises. The car comes with a few extra parts: A spare head, fuel pump, regulator and some trim pieces. The air cleaner assembly is missing, but I have seen a few assemblies sold on Ebay for reasonable prices. I do not know if the engine is original. If it is important to the bidder, send me a message with info on where to look and I'll be glad to provide that information for you.While the car is drivable, I strongly recommend the auction winner use a trailer to transport it. I have not driven the car above 35mph and do not recommend a long distance drive in it before preparing to do so. Also, there are sure to be details I have forgotten to mention and things that I am not aware of. I strongly suggest you view the car in person to be appraised of the condition.
