Up for auction here on Ebay is a rare and desirable 1960 Austin Healey 3000 Mk. I BN-7 two-seater roadster. The Mk. I BN-7 was produced from 1959 to 1961 with a total production run of only 2825 units. It is a model considered by many enthusiasts to be the prettiest and most sporting of all the 6-cylinder Big Healeys. With the 3000 powerplant and front disc brakes as standard, this mechanical specification coupled with the extremely attractive two-seater body style is a desirable package. Please read on for an accurate description. HISTORY: This vehicle was recently purchased from Texas as a solid car for straightforward restoration. Original specifications for this vehicle appear to be Colorado Red with Grey trim (rare), wire wheels, heater, overdrive, and fixed steering column. This car is very complete including top frame assembly with latches, side curtain set, spare tire and rim, etc. It still retains it's original drivetrain with twin S.U. carbs, 4-speed O/D sideshift gearbox, front disc brake set-up, correct 48-spoke wire wheels, original steering wheel plus rare fixed steering trafficator assembly (in good condition), all original instruments, etc. BODY: Very nice straight body. All body panels were recently removed, (except rear shroud) from the chassis. They were then stripped, straightened and repaired to a decent standard, bodywork prepared, and then painted in Healey Blue. The car has had the body panels loosely re-fitted for visual and shipping purposes, and gaps appear to be good all the way around. Grille fits well. Car could use a final alignment and flattening-off, and possibly a re-paint for exceptional results. Right hand outer rocker panel was removed, and a new one needs to be purchased and re-installed. CHASSIS: Excellent, solid, straight frame rails and (4) outriggers. Solid inner rockers with some surface rust only. There are some recent welding repairs on dogleg areas and trunk corner. Front toe-boards need some minor repairs, as there is evidence of some pinhole rust. Overall, chassis is rock solid and accident free, just a little dirty and scaly (photos). MECHANICALS: Original engine is currently stuck from sitting in storage, but may free up with some soaking of oil. Original 4-speed overdrive gearbox shifts nicely through all the gears. All original engine bay including correct carburetors, generator, starter, radiator, etc. Correct and original brakes, suspension, steering, axle, etc. I would assume these components would need restoring. TRIM: Original interior and some chrome items have been removed. Car still has remnants of original grey trim including rear 1/4 panels and spare tire cover. Car would need a re-trim, but is complete including seats, 2 piece tunnel cover, top frame with latches, sidescreen set, etc. Dash and top pad still have original grey vinyl. All chrome items are present in extra parts box, including door handles, lights, bumpers and brackets, overriders, emblems, etc. Dash and gauges are in good shape. Overall, this BN-7 two-seater presented for sale here is a good opportunity to acquire one of these increasingly rare and sought after cars. With a short 3 year production run, collectors are realizing the BN-7's beauty and rarity. This complete, correct 3000 Mk. I two-seater is sold with a current, clear Texas title with all correct #'s as follows: VIN #: HBN7L/ 2286 Body #: 3022BN7/ 2448 Engine #: 29D/ RU/ H 3156 recorded mileage is 103,161 miles Shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer. A $500.00 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction end through Paypal. Please ask any and all questions prior to bidding. Good Luck.
