Vehicle Detail
1987 Buick Regal T Type Air Ride Competition Street Racer Up for bid is a car I put a lot of heart, soul, tears, time and money into and she is a one of a kind. The new owner will have to do a little more work yet to make the car road worthy. 90% of the items that have been installed on the car have had no road use on them. The stock suspension was replaced with a complete system from Air Ride Technologies. In the photo above the car is sitting with the bags deflated. The car also sports rally steel wheels with trim rings and the rear tires are Mickey Thompson ET Street 275/60/15. The front tires are Yokohama AVS 215/65/15. The rear fender lips were cut down and were the only air ride external body modification done to car which was so that the tires could clear when the air bags were deflated. With the Ed Quay aluminum rear spoiler on the rear, the car has a very stealth like appearance. The vinyl letters on the rear window can easily come off if the new owner chooses to do so. The Ed Quay rear spoiler is permanently attached and sealed to the rear deck lid. The rear spoiler can use a good polishing to make it really shine. The car has sat for a couples years in this state so the body will need a good cleaning, detail job. The paint isn't in bad shape but it would need a paint job to make it "show" ready. The rear bumper is in really good shape as well as the tail lights. The tail lights have no cracks in them. The hosing that is hanging down from where the spare tire was are the air lines and because they are a ridged plastic they could not be mounted flush to the underside. There are no issues for them to be mounted as such. If the new owner is from Pennsylvania, I can transfer the license plate to them as well. The Mickey Thompson tires have no more than 100 miles on them. The AVS front tires are in good shape but I don't know the number of miles on them. I believe I also have two more Yokohama tires as well and they will go with the car when sold. The front turn signal lenses were replace with the hard to find clear ones. Also the headlights were replaced as well with cat eye headlights. Cat eye headlights are what you see on BMW's where they have that glow around the headlight. I paid roughly $100 each for these headlights and as seen in the photo below, they make a statement. The cat eye light is replaceable so you can have the light any color you choose. The front bumper, grill and headlight trim rings are all in very nice condition. The hood liner was replaced a couple years ago with a new one and is in excellent shape. The lettering was painted on with a paint marker and could be removed with some paint remover. Like I stated earlier, the car needs a good detailing such as vaccuming off the hoodliner. The engine bay needs an engine which is the minor work the new owner will need to finish up. Before the car started to get it's makeover the turbo went bad and a piece of the turbo ended up in the engine. At that point I decided to pull the motor and tranny and have it reworked. As time moved on, it was just one part of the car that never got done. Also with time some pieces have gotten lost or sold so here are the basics on what the new owner will need. I do have the engine block that was completely redone such as having new freeze plugs, and bearings installed but it is possible that it might need going over since it has sat in the basement for a couple years. The car will also need a tranny, mounts, brackets, turbo, downpipe and innercooler. The car has the radiator, power steering pump, and all the a/c items. The car will also need a new battery. In the photo above you can see the control arms were painted and they also had new bushings installed. I also installed a roll control and the unit is installed down on the frame by the transmission hump. Since the air ride system has been installed, the car could easily handle a Buick 350 motor if the new owner chooses to install one. Mounted on the hood is a Autometer fuel pressure gauge. The chrome cup is crappy looking and would need to be replaced. The car has barely any rust on her but except for this one spot. Overall the car is solid. When the makeover started I was driven to make the car a fun car that could be taken to the drag strip, the road course track, or a car show. The car is very entertaining and even though the car has not seen the road since the makeover, I have had a lot of folks stop and look at the car since bringing out to the house. I know once the new owner finishes the car, it will be a show winner. I do not believe in short cuts or half ass done jobs so everything that has been done to the car has been done right. I believe in detail such as every single wire installed in the car has been hand soldered. As mentioned earlier, the cup will need to be replaced since the chrome on it got crappy. The interior... With doing high end audio car installs for many years, I retired from the profession with this car being my last. In the above photo custom door pods were made and carpeted for the Buick. All speakers in this car are Polk Audio speakers. I also want to point out that I do have the under column dash plastic but at the time of photo it was not installed. This car has pretty much everything except the kitchen sink. On the transmission shifter is the roll control switch. Actually miles on the car is 95,645. On the lower right of the photo you can see the Air Ride Technologies air pressure switches and gauges. The air ride can also be adjusted by the key chain remotes or the switch box. From left to right we have a Bel radar detector, Performance Import Trend BC4 boost control, Scanmaster, SMC alcohol injection module, Knock senor, Autometer Pro-Comp boost gauge, air gauge, water gauge, Oil gauge, volt gauge and an Alpine security module. The white plug is so that you can plug in an Apple ipod or iphone into the audio system. All the car audio components are Clarion or other high end name brands. The deck is a fold out screen dvd player, model number DVH940. The chrome box below the deck is the main box for the corded air ride switch box. On the front dash are 6 speakers which are the tweeters, mids and center speakers for 5.1 surround sound. The rear deck holds 8 speakers which are the tweeters, mids and sub mids. The carpet is brand new and was the best carpet I could get for the Buick costing $300. All the seats are in excellent shape. Lots of remotes. The Alpine unit is a pager for the security system. The chrome box is a 9 switch box for the air ride. I redid the headliner in a gray suede and the 3 storage boxes match the suede. One holds cds and dvds, the other one could hold documents and glasses and the last one closest to the windshield holds glasses. For rear entainment is a fold down 10 inch screen. This screen can show dvds from the Clarion deck or by connecting a Play Station 2 to the connectors on the floor you can play games on it. Not shown in the photo are two wireless headphones as well. This is one trunk you can't really store much in except for maybe some light weight duffle bags. The trunk houses the the glory to the audio system as well as the air ride. The trunk lid underside has been carpeted to reduce glare while watching the (I believe it's 15 inch) monitor. The monitor has it's own speakers which will enable you to play a Play Station 2 at the rear of the car as well. The big red US Amps amp below the monitor is the power source for the Polk Audio C4. I don't have any close up photos of the sub but the sub fires directly into the rear seat. Also I have modified the rear seat so that it can easily be removed showing the face of the sub along with the carpeted back seat panel (the metal which the rear seat attaches to..) In this view you can see the air ride air tank, Sony crossover, left and right equalizers, working fire extinguisher and one of the Planet Audio amps. Every power line has a fuse. Not really seen in the photo above, but below the EFX fuse holder on the floor is where the Play Station gets connected. A total of 5 Planet Audio amps drive the front, rear left, right and center speakers. If I remember correctly the air tank is a 5 gallon tank with air gauge and shut off valve. Above is the heart of the air ride system and it sits where the spare tire was. A lot of thought was put into redesigning the method to keep the trunk lid up since the original method that Buick used had to be removed so that the sub could fire into the rear seat. In this photo you can see the connectors on the floor that go to the Play Station. I do have a Play Station 2 that will go with the car. Just another view... The black antenna is for the Sirius XM radio View of the front from the passenger side. The blue green wire with the serial connector on the floor can be connected to a laptop to monitor the car's engine. Off hand I don't remember the name of the program but I do have it. Close up view of the speaker pod on the passenger door. The computer on the floor will need a new chip. The plastic panel that the computer mounts into is also included but not shown. View of the Clarion deck screen. The screen can tilt further back for easy viewing from the front seat. In the above photo the air ride system was inflated. I want to mention that this air ride system was installed for driving performance and not to bounce the car. Because of the small compress and air tank, you will not be able to pancake the car to the ground and restore it to driving height very fast but you can have some fun letting air out and rising the car again. Another view... Another view... Another view... The complete rear suspension has been upgraded with a UMI Performance upper and lower system along with new bushings in the rear end. The photos below are photos that I have taken when the car was going though its makeover. Painted up and looking pretty... Laying the wire and a lot of it. I also want to mention that every bare piece of metal has been insulated. The cat eye headlights... Build up of the audio system. Well folks that is pretty much it. Any questions please email me or call 570-486-6601 and I will be glad to answer them. The car has been appraised at over $18000 with a motor in the car and with what has been done to it. The reason for selling is to fund my business and if it wasn't for that I would continue to hold on to it. The car is being sold as is and reserve is very very low and happy bidding!
