Vehicle Detail
Just another bike, or a Way of Life? For some people it’s a universal tool - whether on a local run, the daily journey to work or weekend trips. For others the "GS" is a way of life - just the right machine for every tour, whether a one-week trip for two into local motorcycling territory or fulfilling the dream of a lifetime thousands of miles away from home. A synthesis of easy handling, supreme touring suitability, off-road potential and comfort for rider and pillion passenger. There’s simply no other motorcycle which does it better. Yet the current version goes one step further. The new DOHC engine¹ first displayed its impressive performance in the legendary HP2 Sport. For the R 1200 GS, torque was given higher priority than output in line with practical considerations. And you can feel it. 120 Nm at the peak at 6000 rpm is one thing, but the consistently higher level of torque in the relevant range up to 5000 rpm can be fully experienced. The output has been increased to 81 kW (110 bhp) at 7750 rpm. The supreme riding pleasure is underscored by a powerful sound from the new exhaust system with exhaust flap which everyone will love. ¹ DOHC = Double Overhead Camshaft, two overhead camshafts per cylinder. This Ostra Grey metallic matt 2010 BMW R1200GS ABS, factory lowered*, with GIVI system cases is in excellent condition and priced to sell. The extras are worth over three and a half thousand dollars and the tires are almost new. This bike has never seen dirt and was very well taken care of. All service records are available and the vehicle is covered by BMW Factory Warranty. The condition of this bike is near to what we call "showroom". You cannot find a scratch on the paint, a swirl mark on the windshield, a nick on the rims. Nonetheless, you don't need to believe what we say about the condition. We took over one hundred and fourty high resolution pictures to show you exactly what the wining bidder will ride. Grab a cup of coffee, sit back, turn on the full screen slide show and enjoy an in-depth tour around this excellent 2010 GS. You can bid with confidence. * IS the LOW Edition Right for YOU? The most important thing to know about the lower suspension edition is that it only lowers the overall height of the motorcycle and does not change the ergonomics of the bike. If you use a standard seat on the lowered version, the only difference you'll notice is that you can reach the ground easier and safer. The distances between the seat and the foot pegs and other controls are exactly the same as they are on the standard edition, so once your feet are on the pegs, there is no difference. BMW's engineers realized that even though the GS was one of the most sought after motorcycle in the market, thousands of riders stayed away from the purchase because of its height. Finally they put a lowered version in production which provides an incredible variety of seat height application. Compared to the standard edition, the entire bike sits 1.3" lower. It means that you don't need to compromise footpeg-seat distance - which results in a more cramped knee position - in order to reach the ground safely and comfortably. What is even better, with the lowered configuration you might be able to use a standard seat in the higher position (straighter knees) which you'd probably never be able to do on the standard GS. Nonetheless, if you want to achieve a lower seat height, you can still use the lower factory seat with wich drops the seat height to 31". This motorcycle is available either with standard or with lower factory seat, in accordance with your personal preference. For your safety: Please don't buy anything on eBay that is represented by a few small pictures, no matter how promising the description sounds. We are in the digital age when even phones can take hundreds of razor sharp pictures. If the seller does not show an adequate number of high resolution images, there is a reason for that. What you see here is exactly what you get. Happy bidding! Check out all pictures in 1600x1067 high resolution and view full screen slide show!
