Up for auction today is a 1981 VW Rabbit Truck Diesel LX with a new rebuilt engine. I took this truck in on trade from a customer who bought another VW rabbit from Me. This truck had a bad engine do to a cracked head from some one running it out of water. I removed the engine and put one in that I had rebuilt from the ground up. The new engine runs like a million dollars and gets great fuel milleage. It does have a 4 speed but it runs down the hwy at 65 very nice and smooth. This is a great truck with many new parts and many more years of life in it. I have gon through this truck and can only see a few problems, and those I will be listed with the good and the bads. Please note I am not sure of the real milleage of the truck because I do not have the old cluster. The old cluster was pulled because some of the electrical did not work right and a newer one was pit in its place. The last cluster mileage counter did work and it said 128k. I think this is right because the truck is in realy good condition. I just got back from driving this truck to San Diego and back and I would do it again, no sweat. I am now going to list the good and the bad so please read the whole listing thoroughly. Lets start with the good. 1. New rebuilt engine from the ground up. 2. Rebuilt injectors, good for diodiesel. 3. New water pump. 4. Rebuilt vacuume pump. 5. Injection pump tested with new seals. 6. New glow plugs. 7. New timing belt and tensioner. 8. New air filter. 9. New fuel filter. 10. New CV shafts. 11. New front struts and upper mounts. 12, New brakes 2k ago. 13. New tires 100 miles ago. 14. All electrical works great. 15. Interior looks good with good carpet and headliner. 16. Intermittent wipers, only available on the LX Rabbit truck. 17. Tail gate and bead are in good condition. 18. Split rear window. 19. Does not leak from what I can see. 20. Truck driver out very nice. I just drove it to California last week. Now for the bad. 1. There are some small dings and dents here and there do to its age. 2. There is some rust spots but they all look to be on the surface except for one on the inside upper passenger door. Please look at pictures. 3. Drvers seat has a hole and the passenger seat has some cracks. Please see pictures. 4. Front window has a small rock chip on upper passenger side. Sorry I could not get a good picture of that. 5. Heater does not work. I will be checking on this to see if I can get it working. I do not think it is a big problem. 6. Rear bumper is in not so great condition, but will work for pulling a trailer. These are all the things I can think of, though I may have mist something but it would not be that big or I would have listed it. I do a very honest acounting on any car I sell and this one is a great truck. I am sure you will love it. Please ask questions if you have some and I will do My best to gat back to you asap.
