Up for auction on Ebay and for your consideration is an exceptionally nice, one-owner, Austin Healey 100-6 BN-6 two seater roadster. Finished in it's factory color scheme of black with original red trim, this lovely Healey has been well taken care of all of it's life in one single ownership. It is accompanied by a large, extensive collection of paperwork chronicling the vehicle's history, and this is an un-repeatable opportunity to purchase a Big Healey to be it's second owner. Please read on for more information about this fascinating car. HISTORY: Purchased new by it's owner on April 13, 1959, this vehicle was delivered to A. Bruggemann & Co. GMBH, Dusseldorf, Germany. The owner was a U.S. Serviceman stationed at that time in Europe, and the vehicle was ordered on March 23rd., just three weeks prior. Total cost in U.S. dollars was $2478 + $110 (for heater, ovedrive, wire wheels, MM-kit). This later option was the "Mille Miglia" kit, which was the full port cylinder head with seperate intake manifold-117 bhp. An additional 180 DM was added for clearance fees at Dusseldorf and transport charges to Wurzburg. By November 5th. of that same year, it was newly titled in Ohio, as the serviceman returned home from duty with his new Austin Healey. It has stayed in his ownership until a few months ago, when it was purchased by Austin Healey restorer, Kurt Tanner. It received a ground-up, panels off restoration in 2006 by Foreign Car Specialties of Tallmadge, OH. MECHANICALS: Excellent mechanical condition. During it's restoration, it received engine and transmission work, along with rebuilt brakes, suspension, carburetors, etc. This vehicle runs, drives, shifts, brakes very well, and the overdrive unit is quick acting and crisp. Excellent oil pressure hot between 25 psi at idle to 55-60 psi while driving. Slight puff of smoke on start-up on choke. Minor oil drips from rear of crankshaft at engine/transmission jointing. This vehicle has only been driven 20 miles since it's fresh restoration in 2006. BODY: Exceptional, straight body with excellent gaps on all panels. Very nice straight panels, front and back sides. Very good black paintwork with few flaws. CHASSIS: Perfect frame, clean and straight, nearly ding-free (rare). Chassis was completely repainted during full restoration, and has nice shiny paint. No evidence of corrosion. A well looked after garaged car! TRIM: Exceptionally nice, ORIGINAL, patinated interior. Some front "kick" area carpets replaced. Original dash top pad, dash facia, seats with original leather, door panels, armrest, front and rear 1/4 panels, rear armacord shelf, tunnel cover carpet, shift knob, etc. The interior trim was carefully removed during it's restoration, cleaned, and then re-installed. It looks very impressive and fitting to the car, once you have learned of the car's history! Also, the steering wheel/trafficator is original, so is even the sidecurtain set and soft-top and frame, although the rear plastic window has been carefully replaced. Overall, the weather equipment is in impressive condition, and also includes an original sidecurtain bag and original tonneau cover. MISCELLANEOUS: During it's 2006 restoration, the vehicle received a new set of (5) 60 spoke silver-grey painted wire wheels with new recent 165X15 Nexen radial tires and new knockoffs. A new wiring harness was fitted, and the car still retains the original European-spec Lucas headlights. All chrome is very good to excellent, being a mixture of new reproduction (bumpers and overriders) or nice original. Car is fitted with free-flow "Monza" style exhaust system, with a very healthy note. Instruments, switches, and electrical equipment works fine. Gauges have a nice, clean, silver finish. Recorded total mileage is 117K original, but on 20-30 actual miles have been driven since the full restoration. DOCUMENTATION: This vehicle presented for sale here is the most well-documented Big Healey I have seen recently. It's careful one owner has collected just about all paperwork related to this car which is saved in a folder and manilla envelope. Details include BMIHT certificate dated 1989, original Austin warranty certificate, original owner's handbook (orange/red), original service voucher book in German from original dealer, Austin order form, Austin order certificate, original Ohio title from 1959. Sales brochure from German dealer, dealer brass I.D. tag, pair of 1959 original green/white "U.S. forces in Germany" license plates issued T-2685, all correspondence for insurance, shipping, and delivery from Germany to U.S. in 1959, photos of before, during, after 2006 restoration, and 1959 period photo of this BN-6 and proud new owner. This vehicle is also sold with it's original jack and handle, tool kit, and knock-off hammer. Overall, this well documented one owner two-seater in the factory color scheme of black/red is a true rarity. It represents an un-repeatable opportunity to purchase a vehicle with it's unique ownership history, being meticulously and carefully documented. This original and correct matching #'s Big Healey makes an interesting car with it's mostly original trim and weather equipment and would certainly be admired at it's next car show.
