1989 Corvette Convertible Car is Exceptionally nice with only 38,800 Documented miles. Beautiful all Original Paint, Interior, Etc. Always Maintained and kept Detailed to a high degree. Suitable for competitive local car shows or cruises. Please allow me to briefly explain what makes this particular Corvette such a desirable and hard to find item. After GM’s 4 + 3 manual transmission disaster that ran through the 1988 production year, buyers were skeptical of the new 6 speed for 1989 so production numbers were statistically low. Over time the first generation 6 speeds proved to be very durable but most went into the hard top, adjustable suspension models. Therefore, the 6 speed Convertible production numbers for ‘89 are low. 1989 is also the only year that combined the futuristic “cutting edge” Digital Instrumentation AND the 6 speed. It’s the last year for the notch back rear end which gives the car more of an “old school” hot rod appeal. This particular car also has all the original panels and has never had any paintwork. Now in Georgia, it’s an original California car without a speck of rust anywhere. Even with the fiberglass body, the suspension and engine components, the gas filler door, the latches and hardware, even the nuts and bolts are all subject to the deteriorating effects of a salty climate. Upon inspection, it’s obvious this Special Corvette has always been pampered and garage kept and only used for special occasions. With only 38,800 CarFax Certified miles it is also very important to note that the mileage has been gradual and steady. 95% of low mileage vehicles have sat for an extended period of time for one reason or another. After a year of searching I chose to purchased THIS particular Corvette for all these reasons almost 8 years ago and have enjoyed the car immensely. I had a small car collection then and have purchased and built several more since and have simply decided to sell off some of my babies. It appears I have only driven the “Vette” about 100 miles since tagging it last year so I feel it best to pass it along to a new home. You will definitely NOT be disappointed; it truly is a real beauty and an absolute blast to drive. The all Factory Original Dark Red Metallic Paint is absolutely gorgeous and shows no signs of fading or wear. There is absolutely no collision or “bump” damage and no unsightly “road rash” on the nose. Even as “eye popping” nice as it truly is, it’s still NOT perfect. However, any decent detailer/polisher could easily make it 100% as any small chips/scratches that are present are very minor. The door jambs are as clean as the rest of the exterior. All the seams are even and the doors/hood/top compartment all shut as they should. All the glass and lenses are perfect. All the weather stripping is excellent. The Headlight motor rotator bushings and the power antenna motor and gearing were replaced a couple of years ago and operate as they should without issue. Black Cloth Convertible Top is very nice and fits as it should with no leaks or rattles. The inner lining, weather stripping and all the mechanical components, latches, etc look and operate as new. The rear glass is not yellowed or cracked. Rims are a Metallic Anthracite Grey 5 spoke 17 X 9 with a polished band and look Brand New. I special ordered these with a slightly lower positive offset. This gives the illusion of a slightly larger rim without the risk of rubbing the fiberglass fenders. It also gives the already large, stock Corvette tire a little more of a “meaty” appearance. The tires are staggered BFGoodrich KDWS’s with the front being 275 45 17’s and the rear 285 45 17’s. The under carriage is clean with no leaks and is mildly detailed for show. Exhaust is tight and all emissions equipment is present and operates correctly. The entire Interior appears new or near new with the Original Leather wrapped steering wheel and Original Black Leather seats showing only minor “break in” type wear. The only deviation from factory stock is the flat passenger side dash panel. All switches, knobs, levers, vents, etc and power accessories work as new and the cab seals up tight. All the Electronic Instrumentation lights up and works correctly and the Bose Gold Stereo along with ALL 4 of the Bose amplified speakers operate correctly. The A/C is ice cold and the Electronic Climate Control operates correctly in all functions however, it has the intermittent flickering that is so typical with these early units. The carpet looks new and the original floor mats are excellent. The ash tray has never been used. Mechanically the car runs and drives as a 38,000 mile Corvette should. The car feels very tight with no rattles, squeaks or any other undesirable issues. All fluids have been flushed and maintained regularly. Car was just treated to a complete tune up; all filters, plugs, cap, ignition coil, etc along with a full set of New Injectors, New Fuel Pump and New Clutch Slave Cylinder. The transmission, clutch, rear end, etc are all factory original and operate as new. This car W I L L F L Y. Car is also equipped with the CAGS bypass adapter so you get the full use of all 6 gears at your discretion. Fuel Economy is excellent, especially with the 6 speed, if you can resist the obvious temptation with this level of performance. Brakes stop smooth and straight. Bilstein gas charged shocks feel new. All electrical components, sensors, lights, etc operate as they should without issue. I will pass along my complete file for the car that includes detailed maintenance records, all inspection reports and every receipt for everything done to the car from 25,000 miles to present. The car has a clean Georgia title in my name and I also have the California title. In conclusion, this is an unmolested, very nice example of GM’s finest. They are getting harder to find in this quality original condition with all the aforementioned criteria and it’s all verifiable. I’m NOT a car dealer but have recently sold a couple of my other cars that you can view through my feedback along with the buyers comments. I have set the reserve at a very reasonable amount as my intent is to sell the car, not toy with people. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time, for any reason.
