This vehicle,is one of only 45 produced in 1962. It was the top-of-the-line Mercedes that year, and was favored by heads-of-state and movie stars. New,cost as much as a Rolls-Royce, but was more sporting, and much rarer. This car has fewer than 30,000 miles. It is powered by an inline 6 cylinder gasoline engine identical to that in the fabled Mercedes-Benz 300sl Gullwing. It came with an am-fm radio, power steering, power brakes, automatic transmission, and air-conditioning. It has been repainted, but is basically an unrestored, original car. I am a collector and this was one of my favorite cars. The problem now is that this vehicle was involved in a fire The interior was destroyed, which was all original, the leather was burnt but the padding underneath I believe can be used . The dashboard and any plastic was destroyed by the fire. The right side of the car was burnt and the glass was broken. The motor appears to be untouched by the fire but I have not tried to start vehicle because of some wire damage under dash. The motor was redone 2000 miles ago at a cost of $20,0000. These cars are so under valued. Do not be surprised if these vehicles start trading at over $100000 like they are in Europe.The engine is worth $10000 by itself. I have added pre- fire pictures. The carpet was not burnt. This is an excellent car for restoration but I have too many projects going on right now.
