I purchased this car in 2003 at 30,000 miles from a certified VW dealership. Only one other owner prior to myself. I have had all work and maintenance done by the same dealership since. The car has had every service checkup and every single oil change done on time. I have NEVER cut corners with the maintenance and never modified the engine in any way. I am selling this car because i have recently graduated from college and am moving to another city in which i would rather use public transportation. It is very near and dear to my heart and has served me very well throughout the years. The Good: -Comes with 2 new tires in addition to the ones already on the car which are still in very good shape. Also has a full size spare. -Brand new spark plugs, spark plug wires and coilpack which were installed less than a month ago. -New rear axel bushings and rear shocks (done on 4/8/2011) -New rear spring (done on 3/10/11) -Rotors and break pads done on 03/08/2011 -Catalytic Converter replaced in July of 2010 -Moonroof seal has been replaced via recall from Volkswagen -Interior is in great shape with no tears or broken components. Has winter package with heated seats and mirrors. The Bad: -Needs new ABS sensor. ABS will occasionally kick in at 5mph, but does not make breaking unsafe or difficult in any way. -Check Engine light is on. Took the car to the dealership and the diagnostic code given was for the cooling system. Their estimate was 500 dollars to fix this problem. I, however, have not seen any temperature changes while driving. Could be as simple as a sensor, but for the sake of the sale the buyer should assume the full work to be done. -Car rattles when going over just about any bump of any size. I have pinpointed the sound to the back left wheel well, and believe it needs a new strut. I have not had an estimate done on the problem. -Small rust spot on front right (passenger side) door. (pictured above). -Cracked driver side mirror casing. -Glue streaks below driver side mirror from a failed attempt at a repair to the mirror housing after it was knocked off by another car. (pictured above) -Was in an accident in 2005 when a deer ran in to the road and I lost control of the car and landed in a ditch. All work was done immediately by the VW dealership and I have not had any problems from the car with relation to this accident since. The bad list looks quite long, but these repairs are minor and not terribly difficult, especially if you know your way around a car. The recent work done to the car in the past year should mean that once these problems are fixed (or not, the car still runs fine in my opinion) there should be little to worry about.
