“UNBELIEVABLE” UNMOLESTED FACTORY 1972 MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE! 1972 was the pinnacle year for the Ford Mustang! This particular 72 Mustang has to one of the most original factory correct models left in existence. It is in outstanding condition! It happens to be a beautiful example & an exact representation of the convertible released that model year. There were only a little over 6,000 of these awesome cars produced in convertible form {in1972} making it one of the most rare rag top Mustangs produced. Less than one third of those models came equipped with the options that this one did. This one has many factory MACH 1 options & attributes! Displayed in its beautiful original shade of {4-F Code} Medium Lime Metallic with color keyed gloss black accents this Mustang is a certified traffic stopper {with the top up or down}! The color is truly unique and hard to capture in essence or truly appreciate without seeing it in person. Everyone absolutely LOVES it! The paint is mostly original to the vehicle & it is still full of color. There seems to have been some areas that were touched up at some point in its life. The entire vehicle may have been painted long ago, however if it was it is hard to tell. The paint still gleams in the sun! The paint however is not in show condition. The vehicle has a certain texture in some places. It also has what looks to be microscopic bubbles associated with old factory lacquer paint that is present in some places. I would not say that the vehicle needs to be painted, but that will depend upon what level of perfection you are aiming for. If you are a classic car enthusiast who is a stickler for originality & enjoys your toys factory/ period correct then this car would probably really please you. The trunk pan was replaced. All of the factory body lines are uniform & seams are still incredibly true. The doors close with ease & trunk shuts tight. There is not much chrome on the car, however I had the rear bumper replaced with a quality OEM one {the original one had lost most its luster}. All of the factory glass is damage free & the exterior illumination/lights works properly. I did have the head lights replaced with new ones as well as almost every other bulb that was in question. The grill, urethane bumper & front brace were in great shape. I had the grill removed cleaned & painted factory semi-low gloss black. I replaced the center grill emblem & mounting bracket {as the running horse looked tried}. The exterior fender emblems & trunk emblems were also replaced. I replaced the antenna & antenna bracket also. The gorgeous RARE {CR Sebring Green Corinthian vinyl} interior almost looks incredible! There are no rips or excessive wear to report. I had the complete interior {seats} removed & then sent it out to be thoroughly steam cleaned. {After market or reproduction comfort weave seat covers don’t carry the exact same stitching, design or contour as the original covers}. You can actually still see the factory Ford black nylon knitting in between the factory lining. When I removed the rear seats I actually found remnants of the factory build sheet, however it was so faded & washed that it served no purpose in keeping. However I was able to save some sort of factory interior buck tag that was stapled inside the seat {included with the sale}. The dash pad is in wonderful condition! The deluxe décor interior package was the order of the day. It really helps bring this beauty to life! This 72 Ford came from the factory with full console, deluxe door panels with arm rest, electric clock & seat belt warning indicator {which still works}. The factory black power convertible top is in pristine condition. It was replaced a few months before it was stored. This car was produced with a glass backlite which the 1st owner also replaced. It was heavily optioned with: power steering; disc brakes & Selectaire air conditioning. This impressive pony is actually a one owner vehicle. “Well I acquired it from the first owner”. You would be hard pressed to actually find one more original. It was stored for approximately seventeen years {before recently being brought out of hibernation}. After being brought out of storage we {myself & two mechanics at a popular classic car garage in the area} couldn’t wait to start the vehicle & get her going. Before it was stored all of the fluids were drained so we didn’t have to contend with old gas other harmful contaminants. After we replenished all of the fluids and inspected the overall condition of this classic more thoroughly …we were pleasantly surprised! The factory [F-Code 302] Motor and original [C-4 Cruise-O-Matic] Transmission are both original equipment & in awesome condition. We decided to pull the motor earlier this spring to perform a tune up on it since the car hadn’t had one since it was stored. What started out as a status quo tune up ended up being a …… “no expense sparred /no holds barred full blown overhaul”! We enjoyed doing it as the ole pony deserved it. There were so many engine parts purchased/replaced that it would be difficult to try to name them all {plenty of receipts included}. After taking off the valve covers we found that the lifters/ push rods were in exceptional condition & the motor also had great compression! However since the car had been sitting so long we decided to replace them with much more durable competition Ford MO Co hardware. “This pony produces great h.p. & it also has plenty of torque’! The complete drive train is in excellent working condition and this classic is more than road worthy! I also had the battery, starter, alternator, plugs, wires, water pump, thermostat, all belts, every hose, pcv valve, coil, cap, rotor, radiator, dryer, condenser, windshield washer bottle, voltage regulator & just too much more to list replaced! Very reliable….Fly in/drive back? Complete new chambered exhaust with dual two chamber Flowmaster performance mufflers were also installed. This Mustang has a nostalgic muscle car growl! You may find a few nice 1972 Mustang Convertibles, however you won’t find many like this. This pony still has its original drive train, interior & body panels! This Mustang has spank brand new 15x8 inch magnum 500’s with massive raised white letter Firehawk performance radials. It handles like a vintage Mustang should! The side stripes & pop open gas cap also bring back memories of yester year. {We replaced the pop open gas cap with a new one. The original one will be included. We replaced the filler neck, gasket & grommet as well}. Garaged and covered {car cover included}. This gorgeous 72 convertible is ready to be enjoyed. You can’t take this pony out of the stable without being questioned....you’ve been warned! Delivered in Florida and shipped to district 24 {Jacksonville DSO} this classic structurally sound. It still has its original floors, torque boxes & frame rails. No patch work/ no worries! Absolutely no rust or rot issues/ RARE/ROCK SOLID! Too many good things to say about this one and not enough time to say it. At the end of the day I am sure that the new potential owner will be more than pleased with this classic convertible. NO SURPRISES! This is a true must see to appreciate vehicle in every sense of the word! If you are looking for a true stand up rock solid investment then this is the Mustang for you.
