Vehicle Detail

Please see my feedback! All positives on the collection of my personal vehicles I've sold to date in preparation for my overseas move. Over 65 Pictures and 3 Videos of this car (Please read caption above video before watching) - Just scroll down! Unmodified, unmolested, rust-free, Cold A/C, original paint, nice rubber & weatherstipping, new tires, solid vehicle with 105k true mileage. Truly one-of-a-kind. Everything works. Hello eBayers, I know there is a lot of writing and info here, but please take the time to read it. I have always given an in-depth description of the cars I sell on eBay. I find that buyers appreciate this. If there is something I haven't covered, please let me know and contact me. IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ: This car is truly priceless to an avid Volvo fan. I just dare you to find one like this for sale. It can't be readily found. I have fond memories of this car and if I were trying to indulge my memories, I'd pay anything for a car this healthy. Still, the blue book on this car is around $8,000+ according to NADA.com. However, I am listing it as an absolute auction, no reserve. I have done this in the past, and I find that the law of supply and demand takes over and USUALLY the right price is met. I sincerely hope it will be in this case, because I am moving and regrettably, must sell this beauty. You could walk away a buyer who just "stole" a gorgeous 144S, but nevertheless you will certainly be a proud and happy owner. This car will not disappoint when seen "in the flesh" or driven. Ok then, you are bidding on my pride and joy - this is the last of my beloved vehicular possessions that I need to sell. I keep her in the garage, air conditioned and happy. I have hung onto her as long as I can, and I am currently in the process of moving overseas - I unforutnately have to sell her. One of my first cars was a 1971 144S, and it doesn't hold a candle to this one. I'm a car fanatic, and love oddball 60s 70s and 80s cars. I have sold several of my cars through eBay, getting ready to move, all with positive feedback. These include several Mercedes 300 Diesels, a VW Westfalia, a v12 Jaguar convertible, a Datsun Fairlady Roadster, a Volvo 262 Bertone, a Datsun 280z and some others. You can be certain you are getting all the info that I have on the car you are bidding on, and I disclose everything to the best of my knowledge. The good, the neutral, the things that may need help, the history, it is all here, nothing is being hidden or not disclosed. If there is something that you would like to know, please call me at (512) 588-3492 or send me an email. You may get a quicker response by calling me. I would like to mention, please do not bid on this item if you are not wanting to follow through. As you may know, eBay ads cost money, $120 to be exact, and I do need to sell this car in a timely manner for my move. She is worth every penny, and has a remarkable history. The "first" buyer for the last car I sold here, a 1979 Mercedes 280se, kept making excuses as to why he could not pay the deposit, and eventually flaked out. The second buyer stepped in and bought it, was happy and left positive feedback, but guys, please, do not waste my time or your time. The car is listed to the best of my knowledge and experience in ownership, and honesty is key for me. Please rest assured the car is a wonderful example of an original 144S with an amazing history and original paint, and I'm confident you will be happy. Please follow through on your purchase, As stated before, I must move and selling this car must be done in a timely manner. With that said, I can store the car for you in my air-conditioned garage in Lakeway for 2 weeks, perhaps a little more if you contact me first. The cut and dry: This car is fantastic. Plain and simple. A true unmolested, unmodified, rust-free, healthy car with cold A/C, no leaks and no problems, and original paint. This car was kept meticulously as a "time capsule", while all the time being kept healthily running and driving, on average, 6 to 10 miles a week, to keep her fresh, happy and spry, and keep the rubber, elastics and mounts excercised. It must be driven to be believed, but this car does NOT have a feeling of age. She is solid, and still drives and feels very fresh. As I said before, I love this car so much I had to save it for last to sell. I hate to see her go, but I know someone will appreciate her and continue maintaining and preserving her. I am the 2nd owner, and believe me, YOU WILL NOT be finding a 144S like this. Seriously, where can you find a perfectly running and driving 144s with cold factory A/C and original paint that is STILL shiny? This car has been pampered and babied. My pride and joy. Interior: What can I say? The pictures look good, but seriously don't do her justice. This car is clean, clean, clean. The floor is beautiful, No dirt or dust in the crevices, no funk on the steering wheel, absoultely spotless. I can't give her anything but a 9.5 out of 10 for being 42 years old. The interior is overall quite fresh, and still has that "New Classic Volvo" smell if you will. I wish I could bottle it up and have you smell it. It's DELIGHTFUL. The plastics are clean and soft, and the interior doesn't feel like it is going to crack and peel when you touch it. What I'm trying to say is that there is plenty of life left in it's components and materials. Not a single crack anywhere in the dash or the plastics, and the rubber and weatherstipping is in REMARKABLE shape. Still fresh. I don't see a single thing in the interior that needs cosmetic or mechanical attention. This car is 42 years old and EVERYTHING still works. EVERYTHING. I can't say enough about the health and condition of the interior parts. Absolutely remarkable. Engine/Drivetrain: This car starts up first time everytime, the bulletproof B20 purrs smoothly with the recently serviced and properly maintained Zenith Stromberg side draft carbs. The 4-speed transmission and clutch are utterly healthy. No squeals or slips or problems. Put it in gear and go without hesitation. It is a tremendously healthy running car, temperature gauge always stays where it should, around halfway or less, even with the A/C on, the oil pressure is well within range, I had the oil pressure and basics checked by Volvo before I bought it and it passed with flying colors. The car drives straight and true down the highway, and feels like a much younger car. It is a true pleasure to drive, doesn't burn oil, doesn't do anything it shouldn't. I drive her 2 or 3 days a week with complete confidence. This car truly stays nice and tight down the highway and despite it having a gearbox steering system, it is a very predictable and stable car. You won't get the feeling of looseness. True Volvo quality. All the joints and endlinks are healthy and the car feels solid. This is VERY important to me. A loose car that wanders around when you steer takes all the confidence out of driving to me. There are absoultely, positively, no leaks anywhere, oil, coolant, nothing. The car is dry and clean. Exterior/Undercarriage: THIS CAR IS RUST-FREE. This is why I bought it in the first place. I have searched all over, so have a few buddies in the auto industy, and there is no rust to be found on the body. Not even a tiny bit. I'm not surprised, because this car has been preserved, preserved CORRECTLY!) for most of it's life. The exterior is beautiful. Truly. This 42 year old car still has its original paint and it SHOWS that it is original despite the shine and sheen. You can look at the seals and rubber, etc... it's obvious this is the original paint. The first owner mentioned that fact and I believe it 100%. It's just been VERY well kept and garaged all its life. There are a few spots on the car that has a ding or two, and those spots have been photgraphed for you to see. There's nothing that will break your heart. In fact, I didn't repair these spots on purpose even though it would be very easy to. The reason? I wanted to keep it as original as possible, "moles and all". Plus, it reaffims the fact that this car still has original, shiny paint. A/C and Climate: The A/C is important to me, and this car has a fully working, COLD A/C system. It has been maintained, and taken for service whether or not it needed it, just to keep the seals and oils fresh. It is not just cool, but properly cool. You can drive around comfortably in the summer. Other: Everything on this car works. Literally. The radio, gauges, lights, everything. I cannot think of or see one item that doesn't work properly. It has fresh inspection... just this month. Title, stickers, tags: The title is a good, blue title, IN MY NAME, and ready to be transfered to you. Car has fresh Texas inspection, done just last week. I will require a $500 cash deposit, sent to paypal, within 12 hours of auction close, and the remainder within 3 days, in cash, or a cashier's check that I can clear at a local bank on the day of pickup. If you need other arrangements, please contact me first. Please honor your bid, I have put a lot of time into this ad, and for someone to just back out is very unfair. Please let me know your intentions if you have zero feedback, or I may cancel your bids. I'm sorry, I've just had bad experiences in the past with bidders with zero or negative feedback. One of you guys are bound to ask something like: "Can I drive this car straight to California or New York non-stop??" - Well, I don't see why not, (other than stopping for fuel)... I kept her meticulously mantained so she will be healthy, but then again, I don't even drive my DAILY DRIVER out of town, let alone out of state. I'm the kind of guy who rents a car for peace of mind. So, in conclusion, I feel like the car would make it, but she IS 42 years old, and a collectible, so I would not neccessarily do it. I would have a transposrt company pick it up if you live a considerable distance. Believe me, this car is worth it. Don't risk the rocks and pebbles and road hazards on a 1500 mile trip. To date, every car I have sold on eBay, including a 1975 Peugeot 504 DIESEL that was driven to CANADA from Texas (I know, right?), has made it to its destination just fine if the new owner decided to drive it, but of course, I cannot guarantee anything to you. I hope it makes sense and you understand. Good luck bidding, I know you will love this car just as much as I. I will sorely miss her. It's almost like this car was built for me. The black and silver is just my style, and the cleanliness and style speaks volumes about Volvo's vintage years. Combine this with decent fuel economy and roadworthiness, and you have a true champion of a car that you can show and drive and feel comfortable driving. She will not let you down! You can contact me at (512) 588-3492. Pictures: Please click to enlarge. These are hosted on Photobucket. Videos: A 360 Degree Walkaround, Inside and Out, shot by my buddy last week: Engine running, underhood view, being "revved" Please note, this video does not do this car justice. The inferior sound quality of my friend's "professional" Sony camera doesn't quiiiiite capture the fact that this car's engine sounds more nice and strong. It's here, however, it's the best I could shoot with and come up with today, to show how smooth she runs with no hesitation, even with the A/C on. I will try to acquire a better camera, ala "Walkaround" and reupload: A Short Drive - a VERY short drive. First lap in 1st gear, 2nd lap in 2nd gear. Note the power it has going uphill, regardless. Again, I wish it was shot with a better camera. I may reupload if I can get my hands on the same camera that shot the "walkaround" video:
