Vehicle Detail
Up for bids is my 1971 Datsun 240Z. I have owned the car for around 20 years. The car was originally a CA car and spent 1 year in Baltimore where I bought it around 20 years ago. When I bought the car it had the original paint(faded) so I know what was there. Because the car was rust free I regularly sprayed Marhyde neutralizer on the seams where they regularly rust. The car has been garage kept and after repainting it around 5 years ago it did a lot of sitting in the garage covered up. The car had 45,800 original miles on it when I bought it. It now has just over 64,000 miles. The car was never driven much because I have 5 other Z cars. I did auto cross this one back in the early 90's and had the engine rebuilt and balanced by Reynolds and Whitcomb. I remember putting 280 rods in to give a displacement of 2600cc. The car looks great and is still very solid as can be seen by the pictures. There was a $600+ brake job(shoes, cylinders) done at the beginning of spring when I got the car out of storage. The rear shoes froze and cracked when I moved it. When bidding I would adjust the bid to plan on a new set of tires($300-400), they were flat for a year in the garage and have been flat spotted and start to rumble a bit at 60mph. I went to the local tire shop to see if a weight was thrown and you could see they were not round on the tire balance machine. There was a small hole in the floor under the drivers seat that was mudded up when the guy repainted it. There is some fit and finish that could be done if the new owner wants (antennae, door sills etc.) There were new door moldings and carpets installed after the repaint. The car runs great I put around 200 miles on it in the past couple months driving to and from work. Every time I was out I got many comments and thumbs up by passing motorists. A $500 non refundable deposit is required within 48 hours of auction end. The remainder is due at pickup of the car in form of cash or money order. I hope someone get the car that will take care of it and enjoy it as I have. USA Sales only and buyer is responsible for pick-up or delivery.
