Vehicle Detail

Immaculate Beauty! 1978 Mercedes Benz 280CE - Only 85,000 miles!! (less than 3k/yr!) paint code: 906 Graublau (gray blue) Originally sold and owned in Portland, Oregon until recently. I had been looking for a clean version of the classic Benz W123 for some time and found this one in the Pacific Northwest. It was owned for decades by an elderly German couple. I purchased this vehicle from a dear 84 year old widow and drove it home to Indianapolis, Indiana (often at speeds in excess of 100mph - shhh! don't tell!) Vehicle has been garage kept and never driven on salty roads. There is absolutely NO RUST! This is a stunning pillarless coupe. They don't make them like this anymore. Mercedes built this to last a lifetime! Features/options include: Automatic Climate ControlCruise ControlPower BrakesPower WindowsPower LocksPower SteeringPower SunroofOriginal Becker Mexico AM/FM Cassette with auto station seek (sounds great!)Power antennaeRear window defrosterNice leather wrapped steering wheel (from later Benz - great condition original included with sale)Seat height adjustersMB floor matsColor-coded full Wheel Covers (original aluminum wheels and lugs included with sale - shown in some pics)Brand new whitewall tires (less than 1,000 miles of use)Fuel injected 6 cylAuto Transmission4 wheel disc brakes!Brake pad wear sensorsFull size aluminum spare I can't say enough about the condition of this car. I get stopped all the time and asked about it. People can't believe it's original and not a restoration. Immaculate blue MBTex interior with perfect real burled walnut wood trim and uncracked dash! I also have a pair of very good condition blue real sheep skin front seat covers that will be included. Only interior flaw is some mild discoloration on the sun visors. Door panels, seats, headliner and carpet are amazing! Has original, untouched first aid kit. Options on this car works as they should (CC, ACC, Windows, Roof - everything!) But keep in mind it is still 33 years old. CC can be finicky in cold weather, the seat belt buzzer doesn't work (it's incredibly annoying so I didn't want to fix it!), and power antennae sometimes needs a gentle tap to fully retract. These could be corrected easily and inexpensively, but as I garage car all winter, they just aren't an issue. Body and paint are in excellent condition for it's age. There are minor paint chips from rocks, etc (all touched up with MB paint) and a couple of very small dings that are difficult to see unless looking for them. This is the original paint, so minor imperfections from 33 years of loving use are to be expected! I know of nothing the car currently needs or wants, but obviously I can't warranty a 33 year old car. Recently new: Aluminum bodied ACC servoACC amplifierThe AC system has been converted!Interstate Battery (high capacity)Headlight Bezels (were a couple of VERY small chips in originals so I bought new ones!)Combination switch (CC, wipers, etc)Differential fluidBrake fluid flushed Valve cover gasket w/ valve adjustmentPlugs, wires, cap & rotorFuel filterTiresCarpeted trunk mat (perfect original rubber mat included as well)Grille BadgePassenger front window regulator Passeneger rear window track guideWasher nozzlesHood stopsBasically anything this car has needed to keep it in tip-top original OEM condition, it has rec'd! I've spared no expense to keep it as nice as it looks! I have all the original books and manuals that came with this car including the radio manual. I also have a folder of receipts going back to the early 80's for various service/repairs. The mileage and maintenance is well documented. I hate to sell this car after putting so much love and money into it, but I found something else I just GOTTA have (you know how it is!) and well, there's only so much garage space. This car runs beautifully. It is real European luxury from the 70's and an automotive icon. Driving down the road with the roof open and all the windows down is sheer joy! I will assist with shipping, but it is the buyer's responsibility to set up and pay for. $1000.00 deposit due via PayPal within 48 hrs of auction end. Let's not waste each other's time folks, this is a great car and getting rarer by the day. Don't bid if you aren't a serious buyer. This is like the more common 300CD only it has a more powerful 6cyl gas engine!
