On November 1, his '91 Mustang GT 5.0 convertible arrived at the dealership in West Virginia. Since November 2, 1990, Robert has been the car's sole owner. His goal was to keep it for 20 years. Robert has the Mustang's original window sticker, sales receipt, maintenance records, and clear title. This is his fourth Mustang, the first having been a '67 convertible with 289 high-performance motor, which he owned while in college in the late '60s. The '91 GT has been solely adult-driven and babied, never raced or suffered abuse from hard driving. With only 74,002 actual miles on the odometer, this dream car has been kept in a garage for all of its 20+ years while always receiving regular routine maintenance. While never driven in snow or when ice- melting chemicals were on local roads, the 5.0 has been started and warmed sufficiently to circulate oil thoroughly at least every two weeks. Having been reserved for special occasions, this car has enjoyed road trips as far north as Montreal and as far south as Key West but has never been used for commuting or as primary transportation. The car has never been in an accident and has very few flaws. The only paint touch up occurred early in the car's life when the "ground-effects" under the front bumper scraped a stone curb. The original convertible top is beginning to show wear but does not leak; the A/C hasn't been 'cool' for years, but it's never used so not noticed-- a cheap & easy fix. The rear quarter windows won't roll down, but again a minor fix-- just haven't had the time. The top's hydraulic pump and motor have been replaced and are in great condition. In 2000, at 54,890 miles, the five-liter engine developed a head-gasket leak, and the motor had to be replaced. The car's newer engine has been driven only 19,112 miles. Having reached his 65th birthday this year, the owner is ready to allow someone else the opportunity to enjoy this very special vehicle. Nicknamed "Henry" and lovingly cared for the last 20+ years, the Mustang is a friend with whom it is difficult to part, but Robert's goal of keeping it for this long has been reached. As the window sticker indicates, 1991 ("Fox Body") Mustang GTs came from the factory fully loaded, leaving few choices for options. The 5-speed standard transmission was chosen instead of the optional automatic, and cloth seating was selected in lieu of leather. The paint color is Oxford White and the color of the interior and boot for the convertible top is Champagne; the convertible top is white. The original car stereo works just fine, but the owner is including a new Alpine CD player with aux/usb input, still in its box.
