1973 BMW R-Series

Up for auction is a 1973 BMW R75/5 in excellent condition. I am selling this for a good friend. As you can see by my rating I would not be helping him if this wasn't a great bike. My friend is the third owner and it has 45,916 miles. The bike would rate an 8 out of 10. Although is has been kept in a climate-controlled room its entire life, it is not concours condition. It has been ridden ocasionally. It has subtle blemishes and could use some deatailing. This bike runs great, starts everytime with one bump of the starter and handles well with the new Metzlers. It has updated rocker arms. The brakes are good, has a fresh oil change and has a relatively new battery. As you can see, it has polished/chrome rocker covers and chrome drum faces. The original seat has two small blemishes on the edges but is in the best condition I've ever seen for this model. This bike placed first several years ago at BMW Days in Durango, Colorado and placed at Bethesda, Md. Cons: Not a lot..... Handle bar risers and headlight sleeves (on the fork) could use some re-adjusting. Early in life this BMW had a Wixom Ranger upper that I removed thus the needed adjustment. Idling could be raised a bit, but that is generally to taste and elevation. The right control cluster could be tightened but I don't like to over-tighten alloys. Speedo bounces some after 55mph. A good tune-up wouldn't hurt but it runs well, smooth, and revs high without a hiccup. Left side crash bar has scuffs and scratches where the 1st owner put highway pegs on and hammered the bracket to his comfort level.(Go figure?!?) It has the black and flat key, seat key, original tool kit, pump, owner's manual, and Clymer manual. Feel free to email with any questions. If I can't answer I will contact owner. Happy bidding!
