Vehicle Detail
just so this is read first.. THE TITLE!!!!! it has a virgina title that has nearly been eaten by the mice. you'll see in the pictures that it is a mess. i dont know if it can be excepted at the dmv in this condition. but it is a clear title. what i have is a 1957 bmw r60 project. i received this bike on a trade with a friend of mine who is a bike mechanic. the bike seems to be nearly all complete with some exceptions. the front fender is missing. my friend says he has it and we are trying to search through his garage and find it. as it is right now i am selling the bike without the front fender so dont expect it to be there. if i should find it before or after auction end then i will gladly give it to the buyer. i dont know anything technical about bmw bikes of this era as far as what should be there and what shouldnt. so there could be other parts missing or incorrect. the seats are in bad shape and dont look correct, to me personally they look home made but i am not sure. the motor kicks over with compression, i have put the bike in all the gears and kicked it over and everything seems to work. the brakes fuction on the hand and foot and the wheels stop. the clutch pulls in and the rear wheel disengages. the carbs are stuck and the throttle linkage acts like it is striped from somebody trying to force them open. there is a switch on the handlebars that is broken and there is no housing. the brakets to the headlight are there but i do not have the screws. the speedometer says 00795. i dont know if that is the correct mileage, and i seriously doubt that it is. somebody told me to look at the foot peg rubbers as an indicator for mileage and they are worn. i do not have keys for the bike and i have never heard it run. my friend said he started it years ago but it would only idle.. stuck carbs. the gas tank and rear fender where repainted some time back it still has the factory red sealer in the gas tank but the outside will need to be redone in my opinion. the rear fender has some dings in it near the seat mount. as i say, this bike is a project i dont know anything more or less from the day i got it. it would be a very nice bike with a little elbow grease. its just not for me. i am 6'4" and 280 pounds... i look like an elephant on a minibike when i sit on this thing. maybe one day ill have a bimmer gsa and go round thu world. if there are any questions that i can answer i certainly will.thanks matt i was asked to take a picture of the motor number and i dont know how to add it to the auction now that it is started but it is matching number to the frame and title and i can email it to you if you like.
