Vehicle Detail
Hello, and thanks for taking a look at my 2006 Scion tC. I hope you'll bid early, and bid often. Please take a moment to read the full description of the car, which I've included below. If I forgot anything, please send me an email message, and I'll try to reply quickly and fully. Let me tell you about this car. This car gets excellent gas mileage. I do most of my driving on the highway, with occasional in-town driving, and I always measure the mileage at around 34mpg. That's about as good as you're going to get these days. This car handles and drives extremely well. If you're looking at this car, you already probably know about the performance of the Scion tC. It's one of those cars that people these days are modifying and souping up, because it comes stock with a very respectable system. It's small and sporty, fun to drive, and unlike a Civic, not everyone has one. It's comfortable. For a compact two door, it's surprisingly comfortable. I'm six feet, two inches tall, and I drive it all day with plenty of leg room. I've done the same in the back seat, with big comfy bucket seats and plentiful cup holders. I've driven it 800 miles in one day, and though I wouldn't recommend it, it makes for a reasonable comfortable commuter. No one has ever smoked in this car, nor have there been any pets inside. This car is safe. We purchased this car new over the Camry, the Corola, and the Civic because of the safety devices installed. Besides things like ABS and daytime driving lights, it comes stocked with airbags, including those side curtains that come down over the side windows in case of an accident. It's quick and responsive enough to get into and out of traffic, but small enough to slow down before anything bad happens. It's loaded with all the new stuff you want. Sunroof, moonroof, CD Player, A/C, Cruise Control, Power Locks, Power Windows. We bought a new battery in December, replaced the brakes last summer, and bought new tires (Bridgestone Potenzas) last summer too. Those tires have a 40k warranty, though we got 70k miles on them previously. They all bring their own warranty, which, I can only assume, would transfer to you. We even bought a new gas cap in January. The car gets an oil change and a 35 point check-up every 3000 miles. Until recently we've taken it to Jiffy-Lube, but we were treated unprofessionally there a few months ago, and so have been going to the Firestone. It's got a few parking lot dents.I tried to make them apparent in the pictures, but they're a bit hard to see. It's probably got about 4 small parking lot dents on the driver's side, which we've collected in the last five years or so in Atlanta (despite trying to park away from those folks). Also, most of the wheels have a few scratches on them from parking too close to the curb. Those are noticable if you look, but difficult to see in the pictures. Finally, the handle to the trunk comes loose. This is a common complaint with this model, and so I've done the necessary corrective maintenance, described here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7y-c7rc0Ts The awesome guy in this video suggests opening the trunk with what he calls the "two handed technique". That's what I do, and the trunk latch has never broken off. However, as it has always felt a bit wobbly, if you don't use the two handed technique, I'm certain that it'll eventually come off in your hand. And you'll have to repair it again. Otherwise, the paint and the body are in tip top shape. This car has 101,000 miles. If my baby sister needed a car, I'd give this one to her. But she doesn't, and that's why I'm selling it today. Though it has high miles, this car performs perfectly for me every day. This may be due to the fact that the car has mostly what are called "highway miles". I use this car to commute twice a week between Atlanta and Athens, GA (150 miles round-trip), and twice a year from Atlanta to Miami, FL (around 2000 miles, round-trip). Since I otherwise walk or bike to work, besides a Saturday trip to the park and the grocery store, we don't drive it much during the week. This car starts and runs great, every time I get into it. However, with that said, you should know that it comes without any warranty from me (save the parts that do have warranty -- the battery, brakes, tires, etc). Once you buy it, I hope that you get as excellent performance from it as I have, but since you're buying a five year old car, I cannot guarentee it. Some pictures Please scroll down for more pictures. To see those same pictures in full size, click here (when you look at the larger pictures, it'll look like I just washed it -- because I did). Some fine print 1. I'd like a $500 non-refundable deposit on paypal within 24 hours of the end of the auction. When you pick it up, you can either pay the rest on paypal, or you can bring me cash. Please don't bring me a check, as I'll then have to wait five days while it clears, and you'll just have to come back. 2. I'll deliver it to you at a public place, which will likely be the police station that is right across the street from my house. That way, since we don't know each other, we can both feel completely safe completing this deal. We have the title in-hand, ready to transfer. 3. I will consider delivering it somewhere along the east coast, between Miami and New York City. However, I don't really want to do that, I'll charge you a dollar per mile (as calculated by google maps), and I'll insist that you pay the entire balance via paypal before I leave. Also you'll have to meet me on my schedule. Therefore, I'd much prefer that, if you're not in or around Atlanta, you'd come get it. You can usually fly into ATL (a main hub on Delta) for around a hundred dollars. 4. This car is also listed locally (on Atlanta Craigslist), so if you want to buy it early, you can contact me there. However, try bidding first -- you may get it much cheaper that way. 5. I'll deliver the car to you professionally cleaned, with a full tank of gas, ready for you to take your new car wherever you're going (unless I deliver it -- particularly to Florida, where it's bugs-on-the-windshield season. Then you're on your own). (Here are the images -- there are a few, so please give them a moment to load):
