Vehicle Detail
1940 Buick Century "the banker's hot rod" You are bidding on a body-up restoration of a 1940 Buick Century in exceptional condition. This vintage car has 61,840 original miles. Check out the pics below. The Century accounted for only 9,601 of the 278,784 Buicks produced in 1940. Unlike the more common Special and Super, the Century came with the more powerful 320 cu in in-line eight that was rated at 165 hp and was also found in the larger, heavier Limited. Thus the Century was the fastest Buick of the era capable of sustained speeds of 95 mph, earning the Century the nickname "the bankers hot rod". This vintage vehicle is all original, inside and out. The engine and transmission have fewer than 1,000 miles since a complete rebuild. The carburetor was also rebuilt. Several years ago this car was professionally repainted ....an awesome paint job that can only be fully appreciated in person. $12,000 was invested in the clear coat/ base coat paint job with fenders, doors, etc. removed and all new rubber beading and molding installed. At that time, all new suspension, shocks, exhaust, bushings, battery, tires, brakes and front wiring harness were installed. Check out the under pics! While they do show some minor wear, the seats, headliner and carpeting are all original. This Century drives straight and true. The engine runs strong and the transmission shifts flawlessly. Everything is in working condition including the odometer. I am located a few minutes from the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport, or about a one-hour drive from the Tampa International Airport. I could also assist you in arranging for shipping, although all shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer. I am selling this vintage Buick for an elderly friend of mine, but I am intimately familiar with the vehicle and will be happy to answer any questions you might have.
