Vehicle Detail
Up for bids is our 1996 Buick Roadmaster Limited Collectors Edition Wagon in the sought after metallic black cherry with matching leather interior. The Collectors Edition was made in the final year of Roadmaster production. The car is factory equipped with the legendary LT-1 Corvette engine with approximately 144,000 highway miles. The Roadmaster is the top of the Buick line and the Limited the top of the Roadmaster line having a much plusher interior than the “standard” model. The car is fully loaded including pw, pl, cruise control, tilt wheel, automatic door locks, dual air bags, climate controlled a/c, power adjustable heated seats for both driver and passenger including power recline, high powered Concert Sound am/fm cassette player with factory sub woofers in both front doors. The car is also equipped with the tow package, which included true dual exhaust and automatic load leveling, but was never used as a tow vehicle as a hitch was never installed. The only option I can find lacking from the car is a cd player. The Good – The transmission was rebuilt about 50,000 miles ago. Two new tires on the front, the rears are still in fair condition. It has, in the last 30,000 miles, a new water pump, a/c compressor, opti spark distributor, plugs and wires. Passenger side catalytic converter, both 02 sensors and the EGR was also replaced at that time. Known for tremendous fuel economy, this car returned 28.9 MPG on our trip back from Aspen CO. running between 70 and 80 with the a/c blowing!! (see insert from June 2011 Hemmings Classic Car Magazine). Car has a full size spare on a matching rim. The sun shades for the vista window over the rear seat are in excellent working condition. The paint is in OUTSTANDING condition. Clean Georgia Title in hand. The not so good – As with most Roadmasters, the black rubber body side molding has fallen off the chrome strips. We have the body side moldings which can be re-attached with the proper adhesive. There is a small tear in the drivers side leather seat at the box for the power seat controls, again typical for the Roadmaster. The balance of the interior is excellent! While the car runs pretty good, there is a fuel injector which requires replacement. It is delivering too much fuel to that cylinder causing a rich condition which affects the smoothness of the engine as well as fuel economy. Luckily, the injector is on the passenger side of the engine which is much easier to access. One piece of trim is MIA from the left rear passenger door (see photos). There are also 3 minor (repairable) chips in the windshield and a minor ding or two. The car is actually in outstanding condition for the age/mileage but I want to make sure everyone knows exactly what they are bidding on. While the a/c compressor is less than 2 years old, this summer we noticed it is blowing cool not ice cold as it did last year. A top off of the freon would restore the ice cube spitting ability of the system. The ABS (anti lock) light is on and my mechanic advised it was the wheel sensor on the right front tire. About $100.00 to repair. This is a two owner car. We purchased it with 28,000 miles on it from the original owners estate about 6 years ago. It immediately went on a strictly synthetic mobile 1 diet and the transmission was filled with synthetic fluids at the rebuild. The entire vehicle is original with all maintenance items replaced with OEM type parts. No cold air kits, no aftermarket computer chips, etc. Always adult driven and maintained. This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION. The high bid gets it. We are a family of 3 drivers (daughter just graduated high school) with 8 cars. Wife says something has to go. No way my SS Chevelle, Mach1, Firebird, TR7 or truck is going anywhere. Since she didn't specify which she wanted gone I guess it's her Wagon that gets the boot!!!! Bid fast before she finds out!!! We also have a 69 Baja Bug and 63 Chrysler Newport which will be listed soon. We will require a $250.00 deposit via money order or pay pal to hold the car for delivery. We are located approximately 120 miles north of Atlanta in the beautiful North Georgia Mountains. Pick up at Hartsfield/Jackson International Airport can be arranged. I would not hesitate to drive this car home any distance. Email with any questions and we will promptly respond.
