This auction is for a very nice looking 1999 MAZDA MIATA MX-5 Although I am somewhat familiar with this car, I am not the owner. I am selling it for a friend who is a retired school teacher. After searching for a car for months, she purchased this one at the end of last summer. She was looking for a fun summer car, and this car is fun to drive...but it does have some issues! On the second day of ownership, the check engine light came on. She brought it to a local dealer who, after doing the necessary diagnostics found a few issues that were corrected. Now unfortunately, after two different dealers and one private shop, along with $2,100. in repairs, the light still comes on most of the time, but not all of the time. At this point, she has become frustrated and has decided to sell the car. Financially, she has decided to stop spending money on it and move on. Since purchasing this car, she has put 1,765 miles on it. The car looks nice, and drives and handles as you would expect. The steering is tight, it shifts well, and the brakes and running gear all seem fine. The tires appear to have about 40-50% of the tread left. As stated, the car looks nice, but I think the pictures make it look a little better than it does in person (my opinion). There is no body rust, and the undercarriage looks good. Seats are leather with normal wear. There is one small scuff on the drivers side front bumper, and a small hole (1") in the convertible top where the top frame wore through it (the top is very serviceable). The car has a "Jackson" supercharger on it, but I'm not sure if there were any other modifications made to it. I'm sure that you Miata guys out there know what's going on with this car, and for you it can be an inexpensive ride! The reserve is set low, and it will sell!!
