Vehicle Detail
This car was fully restored by the previous owner. I purchased it 2007 and have loved the 1200 miles I've put on it but it's time to sell it. Interior:The instrumentation panel shines and looks amazing and the engine compartment is clean and ready to show off. Original seats and floor mats are in great shape and really add to the car's appeal. Door panels are perfect. Carpeting is in excellent shape and shows no signs of wear. Has the original radio in it for that classic look. Exterior:Was repainted in it's original color of Tahiti Blue and everything was covered from the engine compartment to the inside of the trunk. Paint still shines and has no visible nicks or deep scratches. The top is in great condition with no holes. There is one small spot on the drivers side where a seam is showing the first signs of separation but it's holding solid. The convertible top windows are perfect and show no signs of UV damage. The one cosmetic flaw of the car is on the trunk. (Seen in 2nd to last picture between badge and trunk handle) The trunk was dented in when it was accidentally sat on. It's been popped out but there is a crease in the paint and metal. The crease is noticeable when you're right next to it, but doesn't stick out like a sore thumb like a dent in the 1/4 panel would. I have what's left of the paint used in the restoration so a perfect match isn't an issue at all. Mechanically:Runs great. It's started up fine every spring with little or no effort. Once it's been run after winter heated storage it starts up right away and is ready to go. I had an electric fuel pump installed when I purchased it on the advice of the dealer who specializes in MG and other foreign cars. The addition of the fuel pump has made a great difference especially when it's warm. The transmission and steering are nice and tight. It will need an alignment and 2 new front tires in the near future. I would have had it done myself but I've been storing it 2 hours from where I live and just haven't found the time to get it taken care of. New battery installed in 2010 Comes with all the covers available:1) Cover for when the top is down (pictured)2) Cockpit cover for when the top is down (pictured)3) Dust cover for storage (not in great shape but it does it's job) This car comes with everything for someone who wants it as a daily driver or a collector car. I've treated it like a collector car and comes with these extras:1) trickle battert charger for storage2) the original jack and lug nut wrench in it's original MG case3) 1977 owner's manual4) original sales booklet for the 1977 MG line5) restoration notes and electrical diagrams Shipping and payment:Payment - $500 deposit required via PayPal within 24 hours of sale. Balance due within 7 days of end of auction.Shipping - Buyer assumes all responsibility to either pick-up car or make arrangements to have it shipped to their location. On Jun-06-11 at 21:54:18 PDT, seller added the following information:I have posted all the high res pics that I have of the car at http://gallery.me.com/johnathanmorrisonOn Jun-07-11 at 11:20:01 PDT, seller added the following information:I was able to get a hold of the individual who did the restoration and found out the following: Restoration date - 1993. Car was purchased by him years prior to that and it had around 10,000 miles on it. He drove it the majority of it's miles prior to the complete restoration. As far has he can tell the engine, transmission, and body numbers all match. He did not change out anything along that lines and saw no signs that they had been replaced by the prior owner. Engine: Head was taken off and the heads and cylinders were inspected and checked for any leaking past the valves...there was none. Heads/cylinders still had their original honing marks during inspection. The pan was removed and a new gasket was installed. The rod bearings were inspected and appeared perfect. The transmission was opened and showed ZERO metal shavings. Restoration was completed with all original BRITISH parts from Moss Motors in California. New top, completely redone interior from the dash to the seats to the carpeting and floor mats. All inner panels were sealed with WAXMAN? (spelling?) in 2001 the car was displayed at the Minnesota State fair at an MG rally. He was only present for 3 hours answering questions about the car and it's restoration. All other cars in the class (rubber bumper) were there for a full day's worth of voting. Even after being there only 3 hours the car received enough votes to take 2nd place. From the engine compartment, to the body, to the interior, to the top, to the engine....this car is amazing and if it weren't for that crease in the trunk lid it would be PERFECT. Like I said I've still got remaining paint from the restoration and the fix on the trunk is simple. Please give this car a good home.
