Vehicle Detail

1961 Austin Healey 3000. Numbers matching BT7. Rust-free older restoration (1991; Always garaged since) in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition except for some nicks in paint. 5 brand new Cooper tires (still have nubs on tread). Chrome wire wheels. Factory hardtop (needs headliner; has rips). Excellent convertible top. New tonneau cover. Everything works as it should including the overdrive, horn, wipers, turn signals etc. Original adjustable steering wheel. Door insert windows chrome and sliders, are like new/restored. No radio. Stainless exhaust. No known accidents. Frame and outriggers are excellent. Drive home. All the tonneau snaps, latches are there and catch/snap; has metal cross support bar for keeping cover from sagging. Hard top paint, trim, windows and rubber seals are excellent. Does need one latch on right front. Soft top is like new including plastic window, perfect frame support, and snap downs on back and front header/latches. No paint bubbles or cracks (some chips as mentioned-due to putting hard top on, and small area at hood back-these can be touched up). Gauges are like new; NO fog/cracks/pitting/peeling (part of that restoration) and all work. Oil pressure and temperature is steady on. The exhaust has a beautiful Healey sports/race car sound on reving the engine or accelerating. Shifting is smooth with working overdrive. Steering is true/firm. The four on-car rims are chromed; spare is painted silver; TWO EXTRA painted rims (not pictured) are also included (these extras could be sold by new owner if not needed). No oil smoke at start-up or running temperature, no water leaks. Has an Austin Healey hard cover driver's operation handbook and another handbook falling apart, vinyl/hardcover workshop manual (looks like 300 pages with pictures); large wiring diagram sealed in plastic (used in the restoration) AND pictures book of restoration under way. ENGINE #: 29D/RU/H22135 DATA PLATE (ON COWL/FIREWALL/BACK OF ENGINE above right of VIN plate): 3059BT7L 12220 For foreign inquiries; U.S. based shippers: 1) Schumacher(843-743-2235; L & D Transport delivered a car from my location Jacksonville, Florida to Charleston, S.C. shipping port;**South Carolina is location of shipper-Schumacher). 2) Texas-Trans Global (972-602-1670; fax-972-602-0072). 3) Bear's Transport, LLC is a trucking scheduler that can get vehicle from me to the above shipper locations/ports. Bear's is usually fair priced, efficient, fast, and bonded/insured, ethical, honest; 866-858-8066; fax-847-589-0830; quote@bearstransport.com Many of you know about classic insurance coverage. It's about $200 per year for $35,000 protection; that is comprehensive-theft, fire, storm, etc. damage. Licensing is also lower in most states (historical plate). This car's title does NOT have any brandings. Branding means labeled "salvage" or "rebuilt". On May-29-11 at 06:29:29 PDT, seller added the following information: I have pictures of the firewall data plate (number given in previous description write-up) and the motor number plate. VIN plate shown in pictures. Also, pictures of the hard top, all sides; headliner; brackets; missing front latch area; soft top and frame/parts together (not on car); car frame/rear axle different shots, and as seen through back seat removed. The soft top frame/bows are like new with NO bends/kinks. I have been a resident of Florida since 1981; Jacksonville since 1984 and at my present residence since 2005 (just for substance / existance / reference in who is/where is the seller). See "completed listings" for previous auction of this and other comparisons. On May-29-11 at 06:35:15 PDT, seller added the following information: Tachometer works as all indicaters (and accurate). On May-29-11 at 09:48:15 PDT, seller added the following information: Hard top latch clarification: The passenger side front latch metal attached portion of the latch is in place; just missing grab part that pivots/moves for attaching positioning. I will have close-up pics of this. I just sent many to inquiry. On May-29-11 at 10:53:59 PDT, seller added the following information: At present this does not need any repairs for use. Any needs from restoration to present was maintained. Mention of repairs was just an indication that since little wear was put on the restored parts, as is, the mobility, dependability, enjoyment is in place. As with all mechanical moving machines, there are the little upkeeps, that even in 1961 would be anticipated in say, 1964- at it's three year point or so.On May-31-11 at 05:21:18 PDT, seller added the following information: I'm never quite sure why small bidding increments are practiced when the "buy it now" price is in plain sight and the seller's most likely sell target. The reserve is somewhere near. Bid to win instead of waiting to practice miracles; not sure? If a buyer hires a professional inspector and finishes the purchase, I will credit the inpection cost back to that buyer (inspection cost is approx. $400 or less). If a buyer's money is focused for, and true intention is to purchase a Healey, the cost of up front inspection is not a factor. If you as buying speculator have reservations about this particular car, or spending money in general, no bidding is probably more realistic than tip toe-ing through the tulips bidding. If this is like trying to decide to walk across broken glass, it may not be for you. But, on the other hand it is a large purchase, so, if it feels like the broken glass decision, RUN across it! On Jun-01-11 at 12:21:50 PDT, seller added the following information: The previous owner stated that the restoration people confirmed the original color was yellow. His name and number are in the pile of paperwork that is with the car. Motor and cowl number plate pictures are being sent to those that request as well as other detailed images. Title can be scanned and emailed for examination. On Jun-02-11 at 07:33:00 PDT, seller added the following information: Just as reading tid-bits, note the last question /answer (June 2) below. It brings new light to car's condition and bidding bananza/blitz:)). On Jun-02-11 at 08:34:14 PDT, seller added the following information: I'm retired so please forgive me if I add a lot of notes in between coffee. I may have a YouTube video of the car running/driving in one of the future listings. The car has a battery cut-off switch, but I never turned if off since the battery doesn't seem to drain. I do use it if Austin will be sitting unused for 30 days or more. If you could take this car for a ride on a mountain, valley or curving country road, buying would be done. Add a picnic with glass of wine, cheese, crackers with above and buying would be done. Add a radio with all the above and buying would be done. Add a girl or significant with all the above and buying would be done. Add Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven with all the above and buying would be "done". This lifetime or next. Choices? I'm not a poet and you now know it.
