Vehicle Detail
1953 Buick Roadmaster 2 Door Hardtop - 322 NailHead developing 188 horsepower, connected to a Twin Turbine Dynaflow automatic transmission (same powertrain found in a Skylark). This car looks very sharp, drives like a dream and can comfortably cruise at highway speeds. This package was one of the fastest production cars of 1953. I purchased it a few years back for my wife from the original restorer Charles Riibe of Washington State when he fell on hard times with his business. Now my wife of 30 years left me for a guy she met on Facebook, so I am selling it. The paint is conventional single-stage enamel and is not cracked or faded, it is not clear-coated, just that shiny. The chrome has been triple re-chromed, including bumpers and rear-window frames and I even have an extra re-chromed rear bumper. Tires are descent, lights and signals work, horn is awsome, guages work, except fuel guage sticks below 1/4 and speedo needle is off, but I have another speedometer to install. Driver's side spot is missing the lense, but passenger is there for a good example. Wipers removed, but I have them. Banjo steering wheel is leather-wrapped. Horn button in excellent condition, as is the front bumper Roadmaster emblem. Front and rear window trim removed to replace the seal (front done, have the new rear seal and all the window trim). Rear suspension is air-ride and is adjustable for ride height. Body is straight, and is WITHOUT BONDO, ALL METAL. Although fenders are obviously from a special (three portals) this is a true Roadmaster. Underneath, the dual turbo-muffler exhaust is throaty and sounds good, frame is solid and body mounts and floorboards are solid and not rusty. I examined suspension components and discovered bushings, ends, joints had been updated/replaced/serviced and are in good condition. Continental kit is a nice added feature, but could be removed if desired. Engine starts right up and runs strong. Transmission shifts smoothly. Steering is firm and responsive. Original radio is present, but we used the AM/FM/CD player instead. Interior is free of rips or tears, but could use some cleaning. Headliner and carpet are good also. I am starting this car low and without a reserve, so bid and it could be yours. It's a fun and dependable and a real head-turner. FYI I do have the original hood V8 spoon and spear (stripped, ready for re-chroming), hood nose emblem (perfect-concourse quality with new insert, flawless) , and trunk emblem (stripped, ready for re-chroming, with red plastic buick eight inserts). Contact me if you want these items, have any questions, or would like to see additional photos of specific areas. On May-26-11 at 10:24:59 PDT, seller added the following information: For those commenting about the Super trim, the Roadmaster brightwork around the rear wheel wells was obviously removed, can see the mounting holes around the bottom. This is a Roadmaster, titled as a Roadmaster. Obviously reconstructed with some Super parts based on the previous owner's personal preference for appearance.
