Vehicle Detail
After many collector cars, I bought this Alfa Romeo about 4 years ago, completely prepared to deal with the idiosyncrasies of a 34 year old Italian car. What I found was that this car has been among the most reliable and trouble free collectibles I have ever owned (including the SPICA fuel injection)! It is a 1973 Alfa Romeo Spider currently with 36,xxx miles , original miles certified by the dealer that I bought the car from, and has clear California Title and current registration. When I purchased the car, it appeared to have been not operated for some time, so it went to the one of the best Alfa mechanics in the area for a new clutch, new Stock exhaust system, radiator, master brake and clutch/slave cylinders, and new battery. Since then it has just been general maintenance. Runs like a low mileage car should, excellent oil pressure, normal operating temperature, good cold and hot starting. Slight “alfa crunch” on the second gear upshift, fine downshifting . Pirelli tires with good tread but unknown age, on genuine English Minilite wheels dated 1976. Paint is serviceable but clearcoat is crazed in spots, some small nicks and blemishes, etc., but still looks good as you can see in the pictures. I have found no indications of rust or collision repair anywhere on the car. Top is original, with a new plastic window; again, showing its age but does the job, effortless to raise and lower, so I never changed it (stays down mostly). Interior all original; minor nicks and scuffs some which has been covered with vinyl tape, and again, looks so good, with proper shape and good cushions I never changed it. Original ribbed / embossed mats are in great shape, covered by new embroidered custom fabric mats. Dash is nearly perfect, with the exception of a small hole that it appears someone drilled many years ago for an accessory of some type; it is currently covered with a ¾ square inch of Velcro. Beautiful wood wheel and new wood gearshift knob, and a period correct Blaupunkt radio added by me (which works but not well as I never installed an antenna). Good glass, and everything works (interior lights, glove light, etc.), except the cigarette lighter (which is just as well) and one of the high beams that has never seemed to want to light up. This is a clean, reliable and well maintained driver that will keep you on the road and enjoying a truly classic car. I have lost my storage for this car and need to sell it; my reserve reflects this. Successful bidder must make a $500 deposit within 24 hours of auction end, with remaining payment by bank cashier’s check within 7 days. Buyer is responsible for any/all transportation costs, and car must be picked up within 14 days of end of auction. I have described the car in the greatest detail that I can, and will respond to any questions as soon as possible, however the car is sold “as-is”, with no other implied or explicit warranty or guarantee. Good luck bidding on a great little car. More pictures posted; I will get more posted ASAP. Thanks. Posted pictures of the seats as requested. if you look at the outside corners on both seat backs (about the 2 and 10 o'clock position respectively) you will see some vinyl tape covering a scuff. There is a covered scuff (~3") on the base of the driver seat back on the outside welting (where driver slides in and out).
