Vehicle Detail
Thanks for looking at our 1950 Ford F100 Stake bed. This truck is in remarkable condition and is a blast to putt around town. This truck comes with tons of history, starting with the first owner, Creighton School District in Phoenix, Arizona. The school district bought this stake bed on August 8th, 1950. The truck was used for school purposes for some 29 years. The truck stayed with the school until 1979 when it was purchased via sealed bid auction on October 26th, 1979 for a grand total of $301.01. The second owner collected a lot of information about this truck and it comes with a 1948-49 Ford Motor Company truck chassis parts catalog, the original manual in great condition, and two Ford Shop manuals and the original title in the schools name. There is also a box of paper work including original advertisements and articles on these stake trucks. The second owner spent a lot of his time and the effort really paid off. The paint is fresh, the bottom wood in the bed is new with new rails, the stake part of the is the ORIGINAL wood!! The story goes that when the school had the truck some type of thick paint or coating was applied to the wood, the next owner stripped all of the coating which took 40 plus hours. The wood under the coating was perfectly preserved! It is absolutely amazing one of the sales brochures says "Floors and stake racks feature select hardwood from Ford's own hardwood forests". The interior is in great condition, the seat has been reupholstered but the rest of the headliner and so forth are original and in superb condition. Everything works on this truck⦠all lights, the heater, the original radio even works although it does not tune with the knob just the buttons. All gauges work great, the speedometer does not bounce at all it is perfectly straight and true. The side windows have new felt and rubber. The truck starts all all the time, pump the gas twice pull the choke and it fires to life. Brakes are firm and operate outstandingly. The motor was gone through by the previous owner and is strong and still adorns the original Ford Carburator. The truck is special, and has spent most of it's life in sunny dry Arizona, then in Mexico and now it has been keep inside and only taken out during warm sunny weather. Needless to say there is no evidence of any rust nor does it appear to ever had any. Please feel free to ask any questions and I will answer them to the best of my ability. The perfect truck for your vineyard, store, or general advertising while having a great time in a vintage truck.
