Vehicle Detail
1977 Lincoln Continental Town Car GENERAL INFORMATION Car was purchased in 1979 by current owner's grandmother at Scarritt Motors in St. Petersburg, Florida. The original owner was the dealership owner's wife. The car had approximately 25,000 miles at time of purchase. Following retirement, the owner moved to Tennessee (1988). The car has always been garaged (in houses – not unheated garages or barns) and has always been titled and driven. Current mileage is just under 67,000 miles. Since the owner's grandmother's passing (about 3 years ago), the car has basically only been driven only to car shows. I have the original window sticker (note: the pictures show a copy I have laminated for use at car shows). EXTERIOR Original paint (with exception of driver's side passenger door and rear quarter panel) and vinyl top. Driver's side door and rear quarter panel were repaired at Scarritt Motors (approximately 1979) following a parking lot incursion with a light pole while backing up. It is possible the bumper was replaced also but I am not certain. Exterior is in good condition for the age. A few thin paint spots exist (mainly above the headlights) and some discoloration of the paint on the top of the driver's side rear quarter panel between the fender's top chrome trim and trunk lid. The car has typical paint chips and dings for an non-repainted car of this age. All chrome is in good condition. Vinyl top is still soft to the touch with no fading or rips. All lights work including vacuum operated headlight covers. Michelin tires with about 20k miles. INTERIOR Original blue leather interior. Leather is in good condition with no known rips or tears. Carpet is stained in a few areas (not acceptable for a fully restored show car but not in need of replacing for weekend car show/driving use). Power driver and passenger seats, cruise control, AM/FM radio with power antenna. Remote control (but not power) exterior mirror controls. No dash cracks. Air conditioning works (see Drivetrain). DRIVETRAIN 460 engine with under 67,000 miles. No major repairs. New original equipment style piston-type air conditioning compressor with R-12 refrigerant (2009). New timing chain cover, water pump, and oil pan gasket (2010). Recently rebuilt carburetor (2011). ISSUES Fuel pump sending unit does not work (gas gauge always reads empty). FM portion of radio does not work. Toggle handle on interior passenger side mirror control is missing. This car is not a high end show car but is an above average driver. It gets surprising attention at car shows for a luxury car primarily because of it's condition. If your looking for a car to cruise the weekends and take to the local car shows this is a great car. I am selling the car because I am recently divorced and do not have a garage to put the car in (it is currently in my father's garage). I am selling the car with NO RESERVE. Please email me with any questions. I do reserve the right to end this auction early because the car is for sale locally. If anyone would like to see the car in person before bidding, just email me to do so. Please serious bidders only. I have told about the car as honestly as I can to the best of knowledge. No shipping, pickup only. I will expect a $1000 down payment within 24 hours of the sell and full payment with 10 days of sell unless other arrangements are made. Thank you very much for looking!
