Vehicle Detail
Up For Bid with no Reserve Is a true barn find El camino SS. I purchased this car last summer with intentions of restoring it, but my plans have changed. The previous owner owned the car since 1987 and he purchased it here locally in Nampa Idaho. The car was delivered new to Pheonix Az. and I believe came to Idaho from there. It is 99 % rust free with just a few spots showing as you can tell from the pictures. I just recently installed a new windshield and resealed the rear window. All of the rest of the glass is original. This car had sat for the last 5 yrs when I purchased it and has been driven only 3000 miles since 1997. It has had one repaint about 7 yrs ago and it was not the best. The tail gate was never painted and still has the original paint on it. It originally had a black vinyl top and was removed before the repaint. This car looks good from 20 feet and will eventually need repainted. I have also installed new carpet and had a new seat cover put on. It still has the original door panels and head liner as well as the dash pad that has a couple of cracks. Somewhere alon the yrs. a non factory tach was installed in the pod where the clock would have been. It is functional and does not look bad. Also there was a gauge pod installed under the back of the hood where the screen and cowl would be. I have a new screen and the original cowl metal that could be put back in place. Now for the engine, it is the original #s mathing L34 350 H.P. 396. It has been overhauled once but was never bored and still maintains the original bore, just freshened up. The original heads were gone through and roller lifters were installed hence the tall valve covers. I have an original set of chrome valve covers that will go with the car. It now has headers and does not have the original carb. The block casting # is 3969854 and the # on the front pad is 10K192671 that matches the vin# as you can see from the pics. The turbo 400 trans is original and works well and the engine runs very strong. It is an original AC car but the previous owner removed the pieces under the hood. Factory tilt wheel. The rear window chrome is not installed because when I got the car it was missing the two small corner pieces. I have the other pieces and they are in good condition. All of the emblems and grille are original to the car and in good condition. It has an older set of non mathching SS wheels (two of them are buick wheels) and decent rubber. Drive this car now or restore. I have a clear Idaho title in my name. I have this car for sale locally and reserve the right to end the auction at any time. There is no reserve and no buy it now price.
