Finished in dark British Racing Green with tan leather trim, black top and boot, this BJ-8 has just been the subject of a total, nut and bolt, body-off the chassis rotisserie concours gold restoration by premier Austin Healey marque specialist Kurt Tanner. Before restoration, it was an excellent rust free/ accident free California car, and was the perfect candidate for a straightforward total restoration (complete car with matching #'s). This is a rare opportunity to purchase such a car directly from the restorer, including a 6-month mechanical warranty. BJ-8's in this condition are seldom available for public purchase. This is a freshly restored "Kurt Tanner Restorations" vehicle with a 100 mile test drive just completed, to ensure reliability, where all final adjustments have been made. RESTORATION DETAILS BODY & CHASSIS: This vehicle has been totally stripped down to the bare chassis/superstructure, including removal of all panels, hardware, front and rear suspension and steering. The chassis was then blasted to bare metal and all body panels were stripped to bare metal also. The chassis was seam-sealed, primed, then painted. Panels were re-fitted to the chassis and gapped. Show quality body and paintwork was then applied to eventually produce breath taking results on an exceptionally straight, California, rust free body and chassis. MECHANICALS: Totally rebuilt engine including hot-tanking of block, boring, new pistons, wristpins and rings. Reground camshaft and crankshaft with new bearings, thrust washers, timing chain and tensioner. New lifters, gaskets, seals, rebuilt cylinder head, new 3-piece balanced clutch and flywheel (re-surfaced). New water pump and oil pump also. Rebuilt generator/starter/carburetors. Rebuilt gearbox with new bearings and seals/gaskets. Rebuilt driveshaft with new U.J.'s. Inspected, cleaned, and re-sealed differential. Re-cored radiator. Rebuilt steering gear. Newly rebuilt shocks (4). New rear springs. New front suspension king pin kit/bushes. Totally rebuilt braking system includes rebuilt master cylinders, rebuilt calipers, new rear cylinders, new pads, shoes, turned rotors and drums (4), new splined hubs with knock-offs, and new brake lines with re-plated fittings. Brakes bled with new fluid and adjusted after 100-mile test drive. New exhaust system in correct mild steel with new hangar kits (system correctly finished in black high heat paint). New fuel tank, S.U. pump, fuel lines, etc. (5) New stainless 60-spoke wire wheels fitted with correct sized 175/80/15 BF Goodrich radial tires. Mechanically, everything on this vehicle has been attended to, and it runs, drives, and stops superbly. TRIM: Totally new interior trim including biscuit panel kit, carpet kit, leather front and rear seat kits, arm bars, door and soft top seals, Everflex soft top and top boot, and powder coated top frame assembly. New walnut-veneered dashboard and new windshield and door glass (2). All chrome is either replated original or reproduction. Car comes with an all new rubber kit and a new armacord trunk kit. The car also has new fitted seat belts. New steering wheel with exceptional restored trafficator assembly installed. New wiring harness with perfectly working restored electronics. Newly cadmium-plated original nuts, bolts, washers, fasteners, and original hardware.
