Vehicle Detail

1959 Mercedes-Benz 220-S, Black Plate Calif. car, I am selling this car for my brother in Paso Robles, Ca., which is where the car is located. I live in Washington State. My Brother bought a house in downtown Paso Robles six months ago. It was an estate sale and the car was part of the deal. It has been in the garage since 1981. I helped him get the car out of the garage and ready to sell. So while it's not a barn find it is a "garage find". There is NO TITLE with the car. The previous owners family couldn't find it. We'll do what we can to help the next owner with this. We'll give you a Bill of Sale. It's a neat old car. The last registration tag on the license plate is is 1981. The odometer reads 84,825 miles, not sure if it's 184,825. Both license plate surrounds are from the Mercedes dealer in San Luis Obispo , which is 25 miles south of here, where it may have been originally sold. The body is very staight with a faded older repaint on it. It looks like it was an light metallic blue. The paint code tag says 274-H. The only seems to be some crusty surface rust in the trunk area. But there are no perforations. The rest of the car rust free and solid. It is very dry in this area. The car seems complete with all the trim intact and in nice shape. All the glass in fine. The chrome straight is nice with some rust on the bumpers most of which would probably clean up. Only the driver side mirror seams out of place, I think it's from a seventies Mercedes. It has nice set of Hella driving lights . The interior in pretty nice Headliner is perfect. The whole interior needs a good cleaning for sure. The seats and door panels are in great shape. Some loose stitching on the back of the drivers seat. It looks to be all the original material. The carpet is worn but not too bad. Again a real good cleaning would go a long way inside. The wood is all there and probably needs to be refinished. I'm not sure what the finish was originally. The dash is complete and nice shape. It has a Becker Europa radio that's matches the rest of the dash. The drivers hand book is still in it's little pocket in the dash. The trunk mat is falling to pieces but still there. There is the old tool kit with Mercedes tools and the jack and handle. Mechanically it has a Four speed on the column and a straight six with dual carbs. I could make the engine turn over by hand. The brakes are free. We pushed it out of the garage just fine. We have made no attempt to get it running and we don't really know why it was parked so many years ago. It is a NON-Running car at this point. It would be great to see this car on the road again. It's certainly a great place to start. I was tempted but I have three old Lotus' to deal with. Buyer is responsible for transporting the car. It WILL need to be towed. Thanks for Looking.
